Su Ze is a transmigrator who has achieved financial freedom and works part-time at a convenience store near Su University. Six days before an impending apocalypse, he discovers an Apocalypse Simulator that allows him to simulate survival scenarios and earn rewards. He discovers that becoming an Awakener requires touching a pollution source, enduring a nightmare trial, and reciting a specific spell. He learns there are six spells: Starry Sky, Fantasy, Enhance, Inspiration, Conversion, and Heavenly Eye. Despite knowing the method, Su Ze repeatedly fails to awaken in his simulations, suggesting a unique personal limitation or a hidden condition he has not yet identified. He also learns that destroying pollution sources is fatal and that Contaminated Zones have rigid boundaries and shifting threats.
In the real world, Su Ze prepares for the apocalypse by scouting potential safe houses and stockpiling supplies. He encounters Chen Keqing, a high school student with a beauty rating of 9.5, whom he helps from a stalker. Recognizing her value as a companion, he builds a relationship with her before the end of the world. As the apocalypse arrives, Su Ze retreats to his prepared safe house in Jinxiu Complex, bringing Chen Keqing with him. He uses his Talents to defend their supplies from raiders and Awakeners, proving that his healing ability and combat talents make him a formidable survivor even without being an Awakener. The story follows his struggle to uncover the true nature of the apocalypse and find a way to awaken, while navigating the brutal new world order where the strong rule and human nature is tested.
