Jiang Ning wakes up in a guesthouse room with a splitting headache and severe physical pain, discovering a naked man sleeping beside her. Before she can process the situation, loud pounding on the door and shouting voices announce the arrival of an Inspection Team accusing her of immoral behavior. As consciousness fully returns, a torrent of memories floods her mind, revealing that she has transmigrated into the body of an eighteen-tier supporting character in a period novel titled "Darling of the 80s, Flash Marriage to the Strongest Military Officer." The original Jiang Ning was a nineteen-year-old factory worker from a state-owned steel family, living under the oppressive rule of her domineering grandmother, Jiang Li. The grandmother favored the second son, Jiang Erhai, and his family over the eldest son, Jiang Yuanshan, and his wife, Gu Yunshu. The original Jiang Ning was forced to work long hours, hand over her entire salary, and perform all domestic labor while her cousin, Jiang Xinrou, lived in leisure. Despite being top of her class, the original Jiang Ning was denied higher education so that funds could be saved for Jiang Xinrou’s college tuition.

The central conflict arises from a blind date arranged by the women’s director at the textile factory. Jiang Xinrou, consumed by jealousy because she herself had not been set up with a match, manipulates the timid and oppressed Jiang Ning. She spreads false rumors that the soldier on the date would be disabled, violent, or an old man who would force himself on her. Trusting her cousin, Jiang Ning attempts to drug the man’s tea with sleeping pills to escape the date. However, Jiang Xinrou had secretly replaced the sleeping pills with a potent aphrodisiac. In her nervousness, Jiang Ning mistakenly drank the drugged tea herself. The drug caused her and the man, Qin Jiulie, to lose control and spend the night together. Jiang Xinrou then orchestrated the arrival of the Inspection Team to catch them in the act, intending to ruin Jiang Ning’s reputation permanently. In the original novel’s plot, this scandal leads to Jiang Ning losing her job, being sent to the countryside, and dying during the journey, while Jiang Xinrou later meets the male lead, Qin Jiulie, and becomes the celebrated commander’s wife.

Now inhabiting the original character’s body, Jiang Ning faces an immediate crisis as the Inspection Team is about to breach the door. She realizes that Qin Jiulie is not a disabled veteran but the young, handsome regiment commander of the Southwest A District Army. Understanding the tragic fate that awaited the original character, Jiang Ning decides to alter her destiny. Rather than succumbing to shame or fear, she recognizes that she has already shared an intimate night with the novel’s male lead. This unexpected connection provides her with a potential lifeline and a means to confront the injustice she has suffered. The story shifts from a tale of victimization to one of survival and retaliation as Jiang Ning must navigate the immediate threat of public scandal while dealing with the complex dynamics of her abusive family and her scheming cousin.

The narrative explores the power dynamics of the 1980s Chinese society, where reputation and moral standing were critical for social and professional survival. Jiang Ning’s transmigration gives her the advantage of foresight regarding the novel’s plot, allowing her to anticipate the moves of her antagonist. The core tension lies in whether she can successfully use her一夜情 with Qin Jiulie to secure her future and punish Jiang Xinrou, or if the original tragic trajectory will still claim her. As the door is battered down, the story sets the stage for a confrontation that will determine the fate of both women, challenging the predetermined roles of the victim and the protagonist within the fictional framework.

Water. Water. One water.20% plot. 80% of the descriptions. This is not a novel. This is a game guide. The most detailed, which devotes entire chapters to a superficial description of the class. And then another chapter, which describes a part of the class skills. But this is only the beginning of suffering. Describe skills, classes, battle systems ............... and do not show in the plot. Describe the skills and class, but in the plot show through 100-150 chapters this, of course, without forgetting 2-3 chapters to repeat the previous descriptions. The main minus of the novel is that the author makes a guide to the game, not a novel.  And of course REPETITIONS. Repeat every 5 chapters as far as legends are cool, with a description of their coolness. And to say how MC is far from them. What for? From the pros, MC. Nice world. But the main minus is a huge amount of description. Literally describing damage calculation formulas. WHAT FOR? You do not play the game. You cannot manage this data.

Not a bad overall read. It’s slightly similar to AFK, just with a slightly less standoffish protagonist, modern setting, and not as OP system. As for the neighbor, she was only in the story for one chapter really — the only lengthy interaction they had was when Qi Shu saved her from a wolf that had found its way into their neighborhood. I don’t know what other people were reading, but it was a perfectly normal scene. Do give it a try.
