Hua Yun, a captain of the First Hunting Brigade in a post-apocalyptic era where humanity fights for survival against mutated creatures and zombies, is bitten by a Zombie King. Refusing to become one of the monsters she fought against, she activates the self-destruct mechanism of her battle suit. However, instead of dying, her consciousness is transported through a spacetime black hole into an alternate dimension. She awakens in the body of a ten-year-old girl with the same name, who has been beaten and left for dead by her cruel grandmother and aunts for stealing food due to starvation.
The new Hua Yun discovers she retains the instincts of a zombie, specifically an overwhelming craving for flesh and blood, while her mind remains that of an adult warrior. Her new family, the eldest branch of the Hua household, is at the bottom of the social hierarchy. Her grandfather, Old Man Hua, and grandmother, Mrs. Li, favor the younger sons and their families, stripping the eldest branch of their resources and forcing them into menial labor. Hua Yun’s parents, Hua Changnian and Mrs. Wan, are timid and submissive, unable to protect their children from the abuse and exploitation inflicted by the main household.
Despite her weakened physical state, Hua Yun’s sharp instincts and combat experience allow her to survive. When her siblings, Hua Lei, Hua Yu, and Hua Bing, bring back a wild boar they managed to hunt, the main household steals the meat, claiming it as their own. In a pivotal confrontation, Hua Yun storms into the dining hall where the family is eating. Covered in blood from her earlier injuries, she devours the meat in front of everyone, terrifying her relatives with her eerie demeanor and strength. She successfully retrieves the meat and bones for her family, marking a shift in the power dynamic within the household.
The conflict escalates when Hua Changfang, one of the aunts, throws a bowl of hot porridge at Mrs. Wan, injuring her head. Hua Yun orchestrates a public scene, using her siblings to draw the attention of neighbors and spread the story of the family’s mistreatment. This forces the grandmother to face social scrutiny, although she remains unrepentant. Meanwhile, in the post-apocalyptic world, Hua Yun’s colleague and the Doctor, who led the expedition, detect a signal indicating she may have survived the black hole incident. The Doctor prepares for a second great migration to find her, unaware that she has already been reborn in this new world.
Hua Yun begins to adapt to her new life, using her knowledge and skills to improve her family’s situation.
