Shen Shuli, a former special agent from the modern world, wakes up inside the novel "The Fugitive Princess," a story written by an author who maliciously used the names of Shen Shuli and her best friend as plot devices for tragic villainous roles. Upon realizing she has transmigrated into the body of the fake daughter of the Lin family, she discovers she has been brutally humiliated: her face is swollen from one hundred slaps, she has been stripped of her wealth, and vicious dogs have been released to kill her. The Lin family, having discovered that the talented Lin Wanwan is their true biological daughter, sided with Wanwan, viewing Shen Shuli as a thief who stole her life. Shen Shuli retains her spatial storage ability, a power from her previous life, which becomes her primary asset for survival and retaliation.
Instead of fleeing in despair as the original plot dictated, Shen Shuli executes a calculated counterattack. She infiltrates the Lin Estate under the cover of darkness and empties the entire family treasury, including gold, silver, jewelry, grain, weapons, and livestock, storing everything in her spatial dimension. She also destroys the estate's physical structures, leaving behind a hollow shell. After securing her escape with a warhorse, she rides to Peach Blossom Village, the rural home of her biological parents, the Su family. To her shock, she finds that her real-world parents, Su Yunhai and Shen Yuehua, who disappeared eight years ago, have also transmigrated into this world. They are now the respected second branch of the Su family, having gained authority over the clan through their modern knowledge and skills.
The reunion is complicated by the Su family's deep attachment to Lin Wanwan, who is currently staying with them. The three biological brothers of Shen Shuli—Su Chang'an, Su Ping'an, and Su Ding'an—openly reject her, believing the slanderous letters sent by Lin Wanwan that paint Shen Shuli as a vicious fraud. They prioritize Wanwan's return and the wealth she promises over their blood relative. Despite this hostility, Shen Shuli's parents remain fiercely protective, with Su Yunhai using his martial arts background to discipline his rebellious sons and enforce Shen Shuli's status in the family. Shen Shuli reveals the impending catastrophe: a severe drought, locust plagues, and an invasion by Northern Barbarians following the death of the Great General. She warns that Qingzhou will become a death zone, necessitating an immediate migration south.
As the family prepares to flee, Shen Shuli visits her maternal grandparents in Baishan Village. Remembering a plot point where her maternal uncle, Shen Yuebai, is killed by a wild boar pack, she rushes into the mountains to save him. She successfully rescues him using modern weapons hidden in her space, disguised as mysterious firearms, and heals his internal injuries with spiritual spring water. This act earns the gratitude of the Shen family, who begin to view her with respect rather than suspicion. Meanwhile, Lin Wanwan, realizing the Lin Estate has been emptied, attempts to manipulate the Lin family head into helping her hoard grain for profit, claiming she can foresee the future. However, her schemes are thwarted by the rapid onset of the famine and the chaos of war. The story follows Shen Shuli and her transmigrated family as they navigate the collapsing society, using their modern knowledge and hidden resources to survive the coming disasters while confronting the consequences of their actions in this new world.
