Quan Lilu is the younger daughter of the powerful Shunyan Group, a global enterprise ranked among the top ten in the world. Her elder sister, Quan Zhuyu, publicly renounces her status as heir on social media to pursue a relationship with a man named Gao Ben, accusing the family of greed. The media descends upon Quan Lilu at the airport, demanding statements about the family succession. She responds with sharp defiance, dismissing the reporters and asserting her superiority. Upon returning home, she witnesses her parents forcing Quan Zhuyu to sign a document severing all ties with the family and freezing her assets. Quan Zhuyu signs the agreement and leaves with Gao Ben, who secretly plans to exploit her remaining family connections for financial gain.
Following the incident, Quan Lilu experiences a vivid dream of a bleak, impoverished era, which she initially dismisses. However, the dream’s imagery lingers, prompting her to investigate the possibility of time travel. She discovers she possesses a spatial storage ability that has accompanied her through this transition. Realizing the historical context of her vision, she begins a massive accumulation of supplies, purchasing food, clothing, medical supplies, and electronics in preparation for an uncertain future. She also secures identity documents and prepares for a potential shift in her reality.
At school, Quan Lilu encounters bullying involving a scholarship student named Zhao Fang. Zhao is assaulted by a group of wealthy students led by a girl surnamed Zhao, who attempt to burn her with a curling iron. Quan Lilu intervenes, inflicting pain on the bully and forcing the perpetrators to apologize. She then compels Zhao Fang to immerse her head in a sewage pool as retribution, establishing a precedent of ruthless justice. That night, while bathing, Quan Lilu suffers a medical emergency and loses consciousness.
She awakens in 1971, having transmigrated into the body of Quan Jingjie, an eighteen-year-old male student in a rural village. The original owner drowned while attempting to save a woman named Xinyi, who was with her boyfriend, Liang Hechi. Instead of helping, Liang Hechi kicked Quan Jingjie in the chest, causing him to sink. Quan Jingjie’s family, particularly his grandmother and elder brother, are impoverished and struggle to support his education. His sister-in-law, Li Li, is strict but caring, while the rest of the family endures severe food shortages.
Quan Jingjie, now inhabited by Quan Lilu’s consciousness, navigates this new life with the resources from her spatial storage. She consumes modern food and uses skincare products, maintaining her identity while adapting to the harsh conditions of the 1970s. The family learns of the drowning incident and the betrayal by Xinyi and Liang Hechi. Grandpa Quan decides to cut off relief grain for the educated youth settlement, angering some but satisfying Grandma Quan. Quan Jingjie resolves to focus on her studies and improve her family’s situation, using her future knowledge and spatial abilities to secure a better path forward. The story follows her integration into this historical setting, dealing with family dynamics, rural poverty, and the lingering consequences of the original owner’s tragic fate.
