Li Yao was the sole survivor of a brutal five-year human experimentation project conducted by a research institute in the post-apocalyptic future. Designed to create a superhuman weapon capable of withstanding the zombie virus, her body underwent endless modifications and soul-tempering injections. She purchased vast quantities of food, water, cold-weather gear, and electronics, while also reinforcing her apartment into a fortress with blast-proof glass and thick steel walls.

Li Yao’s primary conflict involved navigating the hostile environment created by her fellow contestants and the predatory intentions of her neighbors. A man named Su Xiao and his associate Yan Wantong targeted Li Yao, believing her to be wealthy and vulnerable. They attempted to manipulate her through fake coincidences and staged emergencies, hoping to steal her resources. Li Yao remained cold and guarded, exposing their schemes without hesitation. She also faced professional rivalry from Bai Shuya, who sought to undermine her on the live stream. Despite having superpowers inherited from her previous life, Li Yao kept her abilities hidden to avoid suspicion, using only her physical strength to easily defeat thugs hired by her neighbors.

As the apocalypse began with torrential rains and power outages, Li Yao executed her plan to secure food by looting supermarkets under the cover of darkness. She invited her assigned teammates, Ning Xinyue and Yan Yuansi, to join her in the fortified apartment, establishing a hierarchy where she provided food in exchange for their compliance. The story follows her methodical preparation and survival strategy as she anticipates the subsequent extreme heat, acid rain, and eventual zombie outbreak, positioning herself as the most prepared and dangerous participant in the show.
