Yu Ning, a former bandit leader who lived freely in the borderlands with her young daughter, Xiaobao, is summoned to the imperial capital by the Yongning Marquis Manor. They claim she is their long-lost third daughter, Xie Shenyue, who disappeared twenty years prior. The central conflict ignites when Yu Ning attends the Empress Dowager’s birthday banquet and realizes with horror that the Emperor is none other than Jing Tuo, the man she forcibly married five years ago during the war-torn border days.
