Amazing book, with a great plot, premise, and characters. Firstly, I really enjoy the themes that the author explores within this story. Themes of prejudice and dehumanization, as well as themes of justice and the harms of altruism. The author takes the time to dig into these themes through his characters, which are masterly crafted. All of the characters are interesting and a lot of them have been really well explored. Despite how early on it is, a lot of the characters are already very fleshed out. Hikaru and Suijin's altruism, Kamis struggle with self confidence, Raiden's battle with his mission v. self. Amazing characters for those who like that. There is also an amazing and unique magic system, that is akin to coding. I won't spoil, but it allows for some of the craziest spells and abilities to exist. "Mystic eyes of death perception
