Meanwhile, in a mountain forest on the outskirts of the city, Mu Mian awakens from a decades-long hibernation. Accompanied by Xiao Qiu, an immortal hwamei bird she saved in a past life, she discovers she woke seven years late. Realizing her husband has only one year left to live due to the curse, she resolves to find him immediately. Using her keen sense of smell, she tracks his scent to the affluent Jinyuan district.
