Feiyan, known as the fake heiress of the wealthy Yun family, spent her life in the shadows after the return of the true heiress, Yun Qingyu, twelve years prior. Though she possessed extraordinary talent as a traditional ink painter, operating under the anonymous pseudonym Wangshu, her work was stolen by the Yun family to build Qingyu’s reputation. Feiyan lived in an attic, surviving on leftovers and forced to ghostwrite paintings for competitions while her adoptive parents and boyfriend, He Zilin, treated her as a disposable tool. On her twentieth birthday, the Yun family orchestrated a scheme to drug her and hand her over to Chairman Jiang as a political pawn to secure business ties. However, Feiyan was taken by Li Yanci, the cold and powerful heir to a top financial conglomerate, who mistakenly believed she was a honey trap designed to compromise him.

The night ended with an intense, drug-induced encounter that left Feiyan traumatized and Li Yanci intrigued. When Feiyan discovered the truth—that her family had betrayed her and He Zilin was secretly involved with Qingyu—she confronted them. She revealed her identity as the real Wangshu, the legendary Divine Painter, and severed all ties with the Yun family. Humiliated and penniless, with no identification documents and no home, Feiyan wandered the streets until she was kidnapped by the Centipede Syndicate, hired by Yun Zhentian to silence her permanently. Li Yanci, having tracked her down, rescued her from the kidnappers, discovering that she was the first woman to ever strike him and refuse his advances.

Despite his initial suspicion that the encounter was a conspiracy, Li Yanci found himself increasingly obsessed with Feiyan’s resilience and beauty. He brought her to his estate, Changong, where he tended to her injuries and fever, defying his usual ruthless nature. Feiyan, however, remained wary and hostile, believing his kindness was merely a prelude to further exploitation. She learned that Li Yanci was engaged to another woman from the influential Ning family, a union arranged for political power, which complicated their dynamic. As Feiyan recovered, she began to navigate her new reality, stripped of her family but armed with her artistic genius and a growing, complicated connection to the man who had saved her.

Li Yanci, determined to possess Feiyan, employed various tactics to keep her close, including fabricating a debt for a broken phone to prevent her from leaving. He investigated her past, uncovering the extent of her suffering and the Yun family’s greed, which fueled his protective instincts and anger toward her abusers. Meanwhile, He Zilin, realizing Feiyan’s true value and talent, attempted to reconcile with her, but she rejected him, exposing his hypocrisy and betrayal. The story follows Feiyan’s transformation from a submissive, abused ghostwriter to a woman reclaiming her identity, while Li Yanci struggles between his duty to his family’s political alliances and his growing desire for Feiyan. As the Painting Immortal Award approaches, Feiyan faces the challenge of asserting her artistic legacy while navigating the dangerous web of family secrets, criminal threats, and romantic entanglements that now define her life.

the only bad part of this novel is the MC, I feel he is very shallow, but his disciples are very funny, there comes a part where the novel becomes repetitive and the plot armor weighs heavily, and sometimes the author tries to put a mystery into the novel and fails miserably. It is worth reading in general. ( sorry for the bad English )

This book may be better than others in this batch but the original was dropped by the author halfway through. The same thing happened to the other book written by the author

Early review here! I don't know what the first word in this novel is but the synopsis got my attention! Really like cultivation in a modern world so this gets an instance of credibility from me. I'm tired of the whole clan, sect, young master b.s. and a more advanced society could do this genre better imo.
