At some point, the astrologer Io could only foretell “major calamities” and “unlucky events”. Ever since he foretold the death an influential person, the rumors about him spiraled out of control and he was confined to a tower as an “astrologer who invites disaster”.

His guard switches out periodically, and several months ago Regulus came to the tower, a meddlesome busy-body. He makes Io eat regularly, and makes him follow all sorts of rules.

One day, Io foretells: “Where the sun doth eject, A tower of chalk will crumble, And a star will fall.”

Just to the east of them, there is a tower matching that description. And so, an investigation begins.

Its a good thing I read the comments. I'll stop at the early chapters now rather than be disappointed.
