Bai Wu is a field agent for the MIB, a covert organization that hunts and studies YiShou, monsters that transform from humans when their completion rate reaches a critical threshold. While posing as a butler at Rose Manor, he monitors Qian Kefu, the son of a wealthy industrialist who has maintained a completion rate of eighty percent for three years without transforming. Bai Wu’s primary duty is to manage Qian Kefu’s emotional state to prevent an unpredictable eruption, as the young master is a High-Level Demonic Beast with immense power. During a routine investigation on a mountain train, Bai Wu encounters a murderer who has torn out a victim's heart. Using his unique ability to see status boxes above YiShou, he identifies the killer as Ao Heng, whose completion rate had just crossed the sixty percent threshold. Bai Wu orchestrates a swift arrest and eliminates the transformed beast in a secluded forest, confirming his role as a hunter of these creatures.

Back at the manor, Bai Wu continues his delicate task of appeasing Qian Kefu, who is depressed after being rejected by a woman named Guo Xiaoyong. Bai Wu recruits his colleague Cheng Yan, who possesses hypnosis abilities, to manipulate Guo Xiaoyong into accepting Qian Kefu’s gift. However, the plan is interrupted when an armed robber kidnaps Qian Kefu in an underground parking lot. The robber, who reveals knowledge of the MIB and Bai Wu’s abilities, injects Qian Kefu with a serum designed to accelerate his transformation. The robber demands that Bai Wu locate a specific Demonic Beast that died ten years ago, threatening to kill Qian Kefu if the request is not fulfilled within a week. After a chase through the mountains, the robber escapes, leaving Bai Wu with a hostage situation and a mysterious deadline.

Bai Wu reports the incident to his commander, Lu Yusong, who confirms rumors of a drug that can force YiShou transformation, originally researched by a destroyed organization called Demon Eye. Simultaneously, Cheng Miao and Feng Zhiyue investigate reports of a baby-crying monster in the mountains south of the city, linking it to the robber’s description. Bai Wu and Cheng Miao venture into the forbidden mountainous area at night, where they encounter a group of teenage explorers. The teenagers are investigating similar phenomena after one of their friends suffered a mental breakdown following a terrifying encounter. The group hears a strange flute-like sound and witnesses a massive shadow, causing them to flee in panic.

During the chaos, Bai Wu loses his phone and flashlight but is reunited with Cheng Miao, who found the lost device. The teenagers reveal that their friend’s brother, Li Xiang, was the original victim of the mountain incident. Cheng Miao leads the group to a location where the monster reappears, revealing that it does not attack but merely observes. The narrative establishes a dual conflict: Bai Wu must race against time to find the ancient Demonic Beast to save Qian Kefu from forced transformation, while simultaneously uncovering the truth behind the baby-voiced monster in the mountains. The story concludes with Bai Wu realizing that the robber’s demands and the mountain incidents are connected to a larger conspiracy involving the Demon Eye organization and the secrets of YiShou evolution.
