The 1960s: After Awakening, I Seize Space and Marry My Childhood Sweetheart

In 1967 Nan Province, Su Wantang, a nineteen-year-old woman of striking beauty, faces a dire crisis when her father and half-sister Su Ye conspire to sell her to a wealthy merchant in exchange for boat tickets to Hong Kong. The merchant, Lord Zhao, represents a fate of sexual exploitation and death as described in a novel that suddenly manifests in Su Wantang's mind. She discovers she has transmigrated into the body of the novel's tragic female supporting character, while Su Ye has also transmigrated and is playing the role of the novel's heroine. The original Su Wantang was drugged and assaulted by Gu Ciyuan, a military deputy regiment commander, but the transmigrated Su Ye took the blame, setting the stage for the novel's romantic plot.

Upon realizing her fate, Su Wantang refuses to accept her predetermined death. She fights back against Lord Zhao, knocks him unconscious, and escapes. In a critical moment, she intercepts Su Ye from destroying a wooden bracelet that contains a spatial storage ability. By pricking her finger and letting her blood touch the bracelet, Su Wantang claims the space for herself, gaining access to a vast grassland with a miraculous spring that heals and preserves items. She then systematically loots her family's home and a secret storage location containing the Su family's fortune, transferring all assets into her space before fleeing to H City.

Traveling to Jingdu, Su Wantang encounters Gu Ciyuan twice before recognizing him. The first meeting involves a misunderstanding where Gu Ciyuan, still resentful from being drugged and assaulted by Su Ye, warns her to stay away from people with problematic backgrounds. The second encounter occurs when Gu Ciyuan rescues her from hooligans who mistake her for an accomplice. Su Wantang arrives at the Gu family compound claiming to be a distant relative, where she is taken in by Gu Changsheng, Gu Ciyuan's father, despite the hostility of Gu Ciyuan's stepmother Li Cuiping, who schemes to marry Su Wantang to her nephew Li Mingxin.

Gu Ciyuan returns from a mission in Nan Province and learns of Su Wantang's presence. He initially suspects she is there to plead Su Ye's case, harboring intense hatred for the woman who assaulted him. However, when Su Wantang reveals her identity as his childhood companion Tangtang, his attitude softens. He moves her into his residence, protective but still suspicious about Su Ye's whereabouts. Su Wantang, now pregnant with Gu Ciyuan's child from the night of the drugging incident, struggles with whether to reveal her pregnancy. She learns that her father and Su Ye were arrested in H City for attempted escape and involvement in antique smuggling, severing her ties to her treacherous family. The story follows Su Wantang's determination to survive and thrive using her spatial abilities while navigating her complex relationship with Gu Ciyuan and the political tensions of 1960s China.
