Su Zhaotang, a beautiful and wealthy young woman who had been studying and working abroad as a fashion designer, returns to Beijing for the winter. During dinner, her father reveals that a childhood betrothal arranged by their grandparents is now being activated. Zhou Lingjing’s mother, Mrs. Liang, is overjoyed with the marriage and invites Su Zhaotang to a tea ceremony gathering with wealthy socialites. Su Zhaotang attends the event, dressed elegantly in a qipao of her own design, and is introduced as Mrs. Zhou. The other ladies, who had previously considered Zhou Lingjing for their daughters, are forced to accept her status.
