Su Wan, a pampered daughter of a wealthy Shanghai family, dies in the freezing Great Northern Wilderness after being betrayed by her best friend, Zhao Mengxue. In her final moments, Su Wan discovers that Zhao Mengxue had stolen her jade pendant, emptied her family’s fortune, and reported her to the authorities, leading to her exile and eventual death from illness and hardship. Su Wan awakens in 1970, realizing she has been reborn to the day before Zhao Mengxue tricks her into surrendering the pendant. Clutching the jade token, she recognizes the emerald fox carved upon it and understands that she has returned to a pivotal moment in her past.

In her previous life, Su Wan had been manipulated by Zhao Mengxue into suspecting her husband, Gu Huaizhi, of infidelity with his childhood sweetheart, Li Guixiang. Following Zhao’s advice, Su Wan staged a fake pregnancy and demanded a divorce to force Gu Huaizhi to leave the army, only to be abandoned when he coldly agreed. After losing her child in a fall and having her home looted, she was sent to the countryside to suffer. Now reborn, Su Wan resolves to protect her unborn child and her marriage. She discovers that the jade pendant contains a spiritual space with fertile land, a healing spring, and a talking white fox spirit named Hu Bai. This space allows her to store goods and accelerate crop growth, providing her with a crucial advantage.

Su Wan immediately contacts Gu Huaizhi through the military switchboard, only to learn he is on a mission. Determined to rectify her mistakes, she begins stockpiling supplies. She visits the black market, purchasing grain, meat, eggs, and livestock, which she stores in her space. She also acquires fruit tree saplings and seeds, planning to cultivate the spiritual land. Meanwhile, Zhao Mengxue, unaware of Su Wan’s rebirth, continues her scheme. She introduces her gambling-addicted brother, Zhao Chengren, to Su Wan, hoping he can marry into the wealthy Su family. Zhao Chengren, driven by greed and debt to an underground casino, plots to steal from Su Wan.

Su Wan anticipates Zhao Chengren’s move. She pretends to be vulnerable and leaves a large sum of cash visible in her home. That night, Zhao Chengren and his accomplices break into the villa, but Su Wan has already alerted the police. The thieves are caught red-handed. At the police station, Zhao Chengren’s desperation leads him to reveal that Zhao Mengxue told him the Su family was rich and that he could take what he wanted. This public exposure destroys Zhao Mengxue’s reputation. Her brother faces a potential ten-year sentence, and she is fired from her factory job. Su Wan coldly refuses to forgive them, severing ties with her former best friend.

With Zhao Mengxue’s influence neutralized, Su Wan focuses on rebuilding her life. She hires a private detective to monitor Zhao Mengxue’s activities and pays off the casino boss to ensure Zhao Chengren’s silence regarding the underground gambling ring. She also prepares to join Gu Huaizhi at the military unit in the southwest, taking her stored supplies with her. The story follows Su Wan as she navigates the political and social landscape of 1970s China, using her spiritual space to secure resources while mending her relationship with Gu Huaizhi and protecting her family from the threats that destroyed her in her past life.
