Su Muxue is a successful actress living in modern-day Jingcheng who experiences a vivid dream of transmigrating to 1970s China, a era characterized by scarcity and ration tickets. Terrified by the prospect of suffering in the past, she frantically prepares by selling her assets and liquidating her shares, amassing over 1.5 billion. During this process, she accidentally cuts her finger, and her blood awakens a pocket dimension left by an ancient immortal cultivator. Inside this space, she discovers a fully equipped mansion, fertile land, a spiritual spring that heals and rejuvenates, and a talking puppy named Pudding who serves as the spatial spirit. Realizing the space can preserve goods indefinitely, she dedicates herself to stockpiling vast quantities of food, medicine, vintage clothing, farming tools, and weapons. She also travels to Country F during a political coup, using her disguise skills to loot military weapons, gold, and jewelry from armories and banks before returning home.
Just as she completes her preparations, Su Muxue is deployed on a high-risk mission to rescue children from a human trafficking ring. During the operation, a trafficker triggers an explosion that kills her in her original timeline. However, she awakens in the body of a girl with the same name in September 1975. The original Su Muxue had been pushed down the stairs by her abusive adoptive family after refusing to give up her factory job to her younger sisters. Su Muxue learns that her adoptive parents, He Fengzhen and Su Haijun, are not her biological parents. Her biological mother had entrusted her to He Fengzhen years ago, leaving a bankbook that could only be accessed at age eighteen. The adoptive family had been mistreating her for over a decade, forcing her into servitude while favoring their own biological children, who are described as ugly and malicious.
Upon recovering, Su Muxue confronts her adoptive family, revealing she is no longer the submissive girl they bullied. She physically fights back against her father and stepmother, demanding the return of her bankbook and the money they stole. She exposes their abuse to the neighbors and the police, feigning weakness to gather evidence of their cruelty. When her stepmother admits in front of witnesses that Su Muxue is not their biological child and that they plan to kill her, the police intervene. Su Muxue successfully severs all ties with the family, and He Fengzhen is arrested and detained for abuse and spreading feudal superstitions. Su Muxue then discovers evidence of corruption in her adoptive father’s factory records, ensuring his eventual arrest as well.
With her adoptive family removed, Su Muxue takes control of the household, kicking out her adoptive siblings and claiming their room. She continues to live in the 1970s, utilizing her spatial abilities to maintain a comfortable life despite the era’s hardships. She plans to find her biological mother, who had promised to return once her twin sister recovered, though she suspects her mother may no longer be alive. Su Muxue remains determined to navigate this new life on her own terms, using her future knowledge and spatial resources to protect herself and thrive in a time when survival is difficult for most.
