Reborn in the 1960s: Using My Dimensional Space to Empty the Heroine's House

Lin Susu, an eighty-year-old woman from the twenty-second century, dies peacefully and awakens in the body of Lin Suyu, a twelve-year-old half-daughter in Jinmen City during the summer of 1960. The original Lin Suyu was a neglected servant in the wealthy Lin household, treated worse than hired help by the matriarch and her legitimate daughter, Lin Xinyao. Lin Susu quickly realizes she has transmigrated into the plot of a novel she read previously, where Lin Xinyao is the protagonist who steals Lin Suyu’s identity jade pendant to access a spatial treasure and build a commercial empire abroad. However, Lin Susu discovers that the jade pendant is actually a sacred space containing a mansion, fields, a well, and a basin of spiritual spring water that can heal and strengthen the body. Using the spring water, she cures the original host’s chronic weakness and innate deficiencies, transforming her frail physique into one of robust health and boundless energy.

The core conflict arises from the Lin family’s impending emigration. The family, facing political and economic turmoil in the early People’s Republic of China, plans to flee abroad, leaving Lin Suyu behind. Lin Xinyao, reborn with memories of her past life, schemes to keep Lin Suyu in Jinmen City by causing her to fall into a lake, hoping she will fall ill and miss the departure. Unbeknownst to Lin Xinyao, Lin Susu survives the incident and, recognizing the threat, decides to secure her own future. She sneaks into the Lin family’s secret underground vault, which contains generations of accumulated wealth, including gold bars, antiques, and jewelry. Using her spiritual sense, she transfers all the chests into her jade pendant space, leaving the vault empty and clean. She also steals grain and food supplies from the household storerooms, ensuring she has resources for the coming famine.

A key turning point occurs when Lin Susu confronts the Lin patriarch, Lin Dafu, and demands a new household registration. She leverages the family’s fear of scandal to negotiate a transfer of her identity to a deceased servant, along with a small property and financial support. This allows her to legally separate from the Lin family and avoid being sent to her biological mother in the capital, where she would face further abuse. Simultaneously, Lin Xinyao, realizing her past-life advantage of the vault has been stolen, attempts to recover it but fails. In a desperate move, Lin Susu knocks out Lin Xinyao with a firewood stick and hides her in an abandoned house, ensuring she is left behind when the Lin family departs. Lin Xinyao is eventually found by passersby and taken to the hospital, where she learns her family has left without her.

Lin Susu settles into her new life, enrolling in fifth grade at a local school. She uses her modern knowledge and the spiritual spring water to excel academically and cultivate crops in her space, securing a stable food supply during the famine. She befriends Liang Hui, a classmate who is the cousin of Lin Xinyao’s uncle, Director Liang. When Lin Xinyao, now staying with the Liang family, attempts to harass Lin Susu, Lin Susu confronts her publicly, exposing her lack of deference and intelligence. Lin Xinyao, realizing Lin Susu is no longer the submissive girl she remembers, becomes paranoid and suspicious. Lin Susu subtly guides Liang Hui to help her aunt’s family sever ties with the Lins and send Lin Xinyao away via smugglers from the Guangfu delta, removing the immediate threat. The story concludes with Lin Susu establishing a peaceful, independent life, focused on her education and the gradual development of her spatial abilities, while Lin Xinyao faces an uncertain and difficult future abroad.
