A woman with amnesia awakens in a new body, guided by a system named 001 that claims to help her recover her memories by completing missions in fictional worlds. The system explains that the inhabitants of these worlds are miserable souls who willingly offer themselves for peaceful rest. Her first mission places her in the body of Yu Ai, a woman who recently died by suicide after a catastrophic series of betrayals. Yu Ai had been married for six years to Ying Yi, a gentle professor, and was on her wedding day when her life unraveled. That night, Ying Yi mistakenly entered the room of Zhou Hui, a plain-looking woman who maintained a large "fish pond" of male admirers, and slept with her. Simultaneously, Yu Ai was drugged and ended up in the room of her boss, Mo Yihan, a cold and arrogant CEO. Mo Yihan, assuming she was attempting a seduction scheme, publicly humiliated her, had her fired, and allowed rumors to destroy her family's reputation. Her father fell ill with shame, her mother lost her job, and her childhood friend Han Haoyu, who secretly loved Zhou Hui, pressured her to divorce. Broken and isolated, Yu Ai took her own life.

Meanwhile, she returns to her job at Mo Yihan's company, enduring his bullying and demands while subtly increasing his obsession. She accepts his proposition to be his secret lover in exchange for deleting alleged incriminating photos, a deal she intends to use to her advantage. The narrative follows her strategic manipulation of all three men who destroyed the original Yu Ai's life. She exploits their weaknesses, turning their lust and ego against them.
