Qing Dynasty Transmigration: The Palace Maid’s Ascent

Li Shutiao, a modern college sophomore, transmigrates into a Qing Dynasty palace intrigue novel, inhabiting the body of a cannon fodder palace maid who shares her name. The original character is destined to die a tragic death within days after being manipulated by the novel’s female protagonist, Wuya Shi, into offending the Emperor’s favored consort, Guo Luoluo Shi. Upon waking in a dim chamber with a swollen, slapped face, Li Shutiao realizes she has only hours to alter her fate. She recalls the plot: Guo Luoluo Shi, known as the great villain, will eventually seek revenge for the original Li Shutiao’s death, but the protagonist Wuya Shi is the true architect of the cannon fodder’s demise. Determined to survive, Li Shutiao decides to abandon the protagonist and align herself with the villain instead.

Guo Luoluo Shi, whose name is Qingyao, warmly receives Li Shutiao, offering her food and gifts, unaware of the hostility she previously faced. Li Shutiao is overwhelmed by guilt and sincerity, solidifying her alliance with Qingyao and rejecting Wuya Shi’s influence.

Li Shutiao’s survival strategy hinges on securing a position closer to power. Through a series of administrative maneuvers, she is transferred from the outer palace quarters to the inner Qianqing Palace tea room, a prestigious post that grants access to the Emperor. This promotion shocks her superiors, including Jiya Momo, who had intended to keep her marginalized. Li Shutiao is assigned to serve under Liang Jiugong, the Grand Eunuch of Qianqing Palace, a figure of immense authority. Her new role places her in the immediate vicinity of the Emperor and the inner court, drastically changing her circumstances from a disposable maid to a key servant in the most powerful palace.

As Li Shutiao settles into her new duties, she navigates the complex hierarchy of the Forbidden City. She maintains her friendship with Qingyao, who warns her about Wuya Shi’s manipulative nature, though Li Shutiao already understands the danger. Meanwhile, Wuya Shi’s schemes continue to unfold in the background, setting the stage for future conflicts.
