The story begins at an airport security checkpoint where Tushan Jiu is detained for carrying unsharpened scissors. Following these events, the narrative expands to include a specialized police division led by Elder Xu, who takes over the investigation into the trafficker's supernatural death. Zhang Xuefeng is transferred to Nancheng to assist them, bridging the gap between the mortal legal system and the hidden metaphysical world. Tushan Jiu continues to integrate into the Xie family, navigating her awkward social interactions and her growing, albeit subtle, connection with Xie Shiyu. She discovers that her presence stabilizes the Xie family's fortune, fulfilling the original purpose of the blade debt contract while she works to break the curse on her own life.
