Im only just started getting into this but i have to disagree with your last section at least.

The motivation and reasons for joining Academy are clearly defined and shown within first few chapiters and make perfect sense to the story.

Easiest way to define this is he is mentally broken and driven. Think batman.

Finally i read d book. Im not fan of alohas but wt this, I felt d narration was excellent. Easy enough for me to understand. It’s a captivating (for me). Story development surpass my expectations, the beginning of FL Selena & ML Duncan to falls on each other. Cant wait for her to write more chapter!
