My Perfect Apocalyptic Life

Meng Xu is a fresh college graduate working as an unpaid intern at a small internet company, enduring brutal overtime and exploitation. On his first week, he falls asleep in the office and awakens to the activation of the Perfect Life System, a golden-panel interface that grants rewards for completing tasks. However, upon opening the curtains, he discovers the world has descended into a zombie apocalypse. The streets are filled with blood, severed limbs, and mindless infected. Despite the horror, the system immediately assigns him mundane workplace tasks, such as clocking in on time and flirting with a zombie colleague named Chi Wei. Meng Xu quickly adapts, realizing that the system’s bizarre logic can be exploited for survival. He allocates attribute points to Strength and uses the affection mechanic to control Chi Wei and his former manager, turning them into obedient undead subordinates.

After neutralizing his exploitative manager by letting him be killed by the zombies he betrayed, Meng Xu obtains a Job Recommendation Letter. This grants him a second profession: Flyer Distributor. The system assigns him a mission to distribute five hundred flyers for a fitness club and a law firm. Rather than fleeing the city, Meng Xu treats the apocalypse as a new workplace environment. He uses his controlled zombies as scouts and shields, clearing floors of the building while shouting promotional slogans. His calm, almost manic professionalism allows him to complete tasks efficiently, earning career experience, attribute points, and cash. The system rewards him for his "perfect" execution of absurd tasks, such as overwhelming a rival company’s employees with his ferocity during a dispute over parking spaces.

As Meng Xu consolidates his position in the office building, he encounters other survivors. Shen Zhaozhao, a recent graduate hiding in a bathroom, observes Meng Xu’s bizarre behavior with a mix of terror and confusion. She watches him hand out flyers to zombies and lead them around like dogs, questioning whether he is insane or the only sane person left. Meanwhile, a hostile group of survivors, led by a violent thug named Wang Zhan, invades the building. Wang Zhan and his accomplice kill their own teammates to seize resources and plan to take over Meng Xu’s safe zone. The system triggers a defensive task, granting Meng Xu significant rewards for protecting company property. Meng Xu prepares for the confrontation, upgrading his gear and attributes, while the invading survivors underestimate the intern who has turned the end of the world into a routine workday.

The story establishes a darkly comedic tone where corporate drudgery persists even after civilization collapses. Meng Xu’s primary goal is not heroism but personal advancement through the system. He views zombies as obstacles or tools, and other survivors as either competitors or potential employees. His rise in level provides him with skills like Reading People and Slacking Off, which aid in reconnaissance and resource management. The narrative follows his methodical expansion of control over the office building, treating the apocalypse as a series of KPIs to be met. As tensions rise with the arrival of armed survivors, the conflict shifts from environmental survival to human versus human, with Meng Xu leveraging his system-enhanced abilities and undead minions to defend his territory.
