Lei Shaoxin returns to Hong Kong from the UK after nine years, driven by the need to uncover the truth behind her mother's forced suicide, which she links to Zhuosheng Group. Upon arrival, she is immediately thrust into a family crisis orchestrated by her father, Lei Jiu, her stepmother Gao Man, and her half-sister Lei Zhiying. They force her into an engagement with He Zhuosheng, the disabled head of Zhuosheng Group, viewing her as a pawn to secure business alliances and hide past financial crimes. The engagement announcement occurs at the Lei family anniversary banquet, where Shaoxin is humiliated and physically attacked by Zhiying. In the ensuing chaos, she collapses from her injuries and is rescued by Fu Haoyan, the powerful and cold president of Fu Group, who takes her to the hospital.

She is chased by guards but is rescued by Fu Haoyan, who recognizes her and reveals his identity as her childhood savior. The theft exposes the conspiracy, prompting He Zhuosheng to accelerate the wedding plans to secure his control over the Lei family. Shaoxin, now armed with evidence, faces the danger of retaliation while navigating her growing bond with Fu Haoyan, who remains her primary protector against the forces seeking to silence her.
