Qian Lai, a renowned biological genetics researcher from the modern era, dies in a car accident and transmigrates into the body of a downtrodden girl in 1970s China. She awakens in a hospital bed, surrounded by her abusive father, Qian Jiangang, and her scheming aunt, Qin Hongxiang, along with her cousin, Qian Xiaozhen. Qian Lai, retaining her sharp intellect and scientific background, refuses to be a victim. During the night, Qian Lai sneaks into an abandoned factory to retrieve hidden ill-gotten gains her father stole from a previous factory director. There, she encounters Qiao Muting, Gu Hanchuan’s subordinate and the brother of the woman Qiao Muting is destined to marry. Qiao Muting suffers from a severe allergy to women, yet he finds himself inexplicably drawn to Qian Lai, experiencing no adverse reactions in her presence. They team up to capture a group of tomb-raiding criminals, including Qian Lai’s aunt’s lover, Pang Lao Wang. Qian Lai steals the criminals’ loot and her aunt’s hidden savings, further enriching herself while her enemies face arrest and disgrace.
As Qian Lai prepares to leave for the military base to marry Gu Hanchuan, she encounters Lu Ximing at the train station. She realizes he is the man her cousin intended to marry in the original story and avoids him to prevent entanglement. At the station, she also saves a young boy from choking using the Heimlich maneuver, reuniting him with Qiao Muting, who is revealed to be the boy’s uncle. The encounter deepens Qiao Muting’s fascination with her. Qian Lai departs for the military base, determined to navigate her new life on her own terms, leveraging her future knowledge and spatial abilities to change her fate and that of those around her.
