Kong Bi, a former office worker with a passion for mobile gaming, completes a hardcore management simulation titled "The Demon King's Wildlife Zoo." The game's premise involves the Demon King, a green peacock spirit, opening a zoo in the modern world to support himself and his followers. Upon finishing the game, Kong Bi receives an unexpected inheritance: legal certificates designating her as the new director of a real-world facility called the Peacock Mountain Wildlife Zoo. The previous owner was a distant relative of her grandmother. Skeptical yet intrigued by the game's promise of bloodline inheritance, Kong Bi travels to the remote, abandoned zoo located at the foot of Peacock Mountain, near the Shiwan Mountains nature reserve.

Upon arriving at the desolate location, Kong Bi activates the zoo through the game interface. Stardust-like light coalesces to reconstruct the dilapidated building complex, bringing the facility back to life. As she enters the peacock enclosure, a transformation sequence begins. Enveloped in dense fog and mystical light, Kong Bi undergoes a physical metamorphosis, growing emerald-gold feathers and wings. She discovers she has transformed into a green peacock spirit, retaining the ability to shift between human and avian forms. The game system confirms her status as the Demon King, noting that her tribe is en route and her power will grow as she manages the zoo and digests her inherited bloodline.

Kong Bi spends her first days preparing the zoo for its inhabitants. She stocks up on food supplies, including insects and grains suitable for omnivorous peacocks, and cleans the dormitory. Her supernatural nature becomes apparent when she encounters two wild cats—a black tom and a calico female. Unlike ordinary humans, Kong Bi can communicate with animals, and the cats display a mix of curiosity and wariness toward her. She realizes her bloodline grants her an affinity that allows beasts to perceive her as both human and bird, rather than a predator or prey. This interaction confirms that her transformation is not merely a game mechanic but a genuine awakening of dormant spiritual heritage.

The turning point arrives when Kong Bi’s bloodline signals the arrival of her tribe. A flock of green peacocks, led by a female named Huajiao, descends upon the zoo. Huajiao reveals she was previously enlightened by a great demon and carries memories of the zoo’s former director, who had sent the animals away. The peacocks recognize Kong Bi as their ruler, performing ritual dances to pledge allegiance. However, their arrival attracts the attention of Ye Zhou, a forest ranger, and a team of experts led by Professor Quan Xiangsong. The researchers are baffled by the peacocks’ unusual size, the female-led hierarchy, and their docile behavior around Kong Bi.

As the experts install surveillance cameras to study the birds, Kong Bi navigates the delicate balance between her human life and her new identity. She learns that the area was previously closed due to high danger levels, possibly linked to the presence of powerful monsters in the past. Professor Quan mentions a legendary "Princess Peacock" who lived for decades, hinting at a long history of demonic presence in the region. Kong Bi must now manage the zoo legally while hiding her true nature from the growing scrutiny of scientists and the public, especially after a video of her dancing with the peacocks goes viral online.

The story follows Kong Bi’s adaptation to her role as a demon king. She must secure permits for the protected green peacocks, expand the zoo’s collection, and uncover the secrets of her inheritance. The presence of other monsters, such as the elusive Princess Peacock, suggests a hidden supernatural world coexisting with human society. Kong Bi’s journey involves balancing the welfare of her tribe, the demands of zoo management, and the risks of exposure in a modern world that has largely forgotten the age of demons.

He goes back 5 years as a bandit goon and slowly makes his way up in evolution even though he has the template manager which lets him change race it doesn`t seem like it will be used. Leveling seems rather slow for the amount he kills and he evolves rather slow in all frankness. It would also appear he already is going to end up in conflict with the most powerful monsters early on which is a bit of disappointment as i feel a lot of plot armour will come into use

So far I have read all the latest chapters and the story is pretty good. There are zero errors and the characters are pretty good, it also kinda reminds me of birth of the demonic blade. I recommend giving this novel a read.
