Junior Sister Secretly Harbors Demonic Aura

Lin Yao, a skilled demon hunter, perishes during a confrontation with the Demon King at Great Flame Mountain, where her master is lured into a trap and she is burned to death. Her remaining soul fragment is preserved within a Soul-Locking Wood waist token by Tao Wu, the Great Flame Tree King. Three days later, Tao Wu uses half of his essence crystal to regenerate the body of Shen Yi, the deranged third miss of the Shen family, who had just drowned. Because Shen Yi’s body was consumed by a wood spirit, Tao Wu reconstructs it using Lin Yao’s remnant soul, allowing her to live again under Shen Yi’s identity. The Shen family, already plagued by misfortune, views the revived Shen Yi as a burden and sends her to live with her maternal relatives, the Ji family in Jingzhou, to avoid bad omens affecting their political ambitions.

Three years pass, and Lin Yao recovers fully while living with the kind Ji family. During the Qixi Festival at the Matchmaker Temple, she encounters an Illusion demon that attacks a young woman named Xue Miao. Lin Yao senses the anomaly and uses her golden eyes to see through the illusion, revealing a gruesome scene of a man murdering a woman by a dry well. Yan Wuyou, a young mage from Jade Capital Pavilion, arrives with his disciples to combat the demon. He discovers that the demon has possessed He Wanyin, another guest at the temple. The demon traps the group in a series of illusions, but Lin Yao and Yan Wuyou work together to break free. Yan Wuyou attempts to use Xiao Yuanzi’s Pure Yang blood to dispel the evil, but Lin Yao’s hidden demonic aura complicates the situation.

Lin Yao deduces that the demon is connected to a dry well in the He family residence, a place sealed with a Soul Locking Formation. That night, she joins Yan Wuyou and his disciples to investigate. They discover an underground tomb containing two coffins: one holding a paper effigy resembling He Wanyin’s mother, and the other containing the withered, living corpse of He Zhang. He Zhang reveals himself to be a practitioner of forbidden longevity arts, having transferred his soul into paper automaton puppets to achieve immortality. However, the true master of the tomb is Qing Yazi, a demonic priest from two hundred years ago who had been suppressed there. Qing Yazi’s spirit had possessed He Zhang, using him to continue his evil cultivation.

A fierce battle ensues. Lin Yao releases Tao Wu’s power, manifesting as a white rabbit to counter Qing Yazi’s crimson demonic energy. Yan Wuyou performs a deity summoning ritual, calling upon the spirit of He Xuzi, the Daoist sage who originally sealed Qing Yazi. He Xuzi’s spirit destroys Qing Yazi, ending the threat. With the demon vanquished, the spirits of He Zhang and his wife, Lin Rushuang, are freed from their torment and allowed to pass on. Lin Yao realizes that eliminating demons helps heal her fractured soul, but also understands that her association with Tao Wu makes her a target for other evil spirits.

Fearing for the safety of the Ji family, Lin Yao decides to leave and seek refuge at Jade Capital Pavilion, where her former master’s colleague, Bu Xizhou, once served. She is accepted as a disciple of Tranquil Yang Master, a reclusive mage who teaches her the Spirit Control Tune using an ice flute. Yan Wuyou, who also resides at the pavilion, watches her training with suspicion and interest. Lin Yao eventually confesses her secret to Tranquil Yang, who reveals that her grandmaster was from the destroyed Spirit Control Sect. Tranquil Yang places a seal on Tao Wu to protect him from the tune’s effects. The story concludes with Lin Yao practicing spirit control in a mass grave, demonstrating her growing power while navigating the complex dynamics of her new life among mages and demons.
