His father, Orion, a former captain of a demon hunter squad, is locked in a fierce battle with Gorath, a demon general of one of the great demon kings. Desperate to help, Lucian rushes to the carriage in which they were traveling and fumbles through a box until he finds a serum created by his father, intended to enhance a demon hunter’s abilities. With shaking hands, he draws the liquid into a syringe. The weight of the situation presses down on him as he glances back at his father, who is struggling against the demon's overwhelming power. Lucian takes a deep breath and injects the serum into his arm, hoping for increased strength.
"This should increase my strength, right?" Lucian mutters, but he is wrong. The serum doesn't boost his power, and the demon overpowers them, killing his father and punching Lucian off a cliff. On the brink of death, Lucian is rescued by demon hunters. When he regains consciousness, he notices that he has awakened fire abilities and a mysterious screen appears before his eyes saying,
