Rintaro Kazuraki is a young man who dreams of being the protagonist of his own story. His life takes an unexpected turn when he is summoned to another world by the malevolent God of Death, who views him as an ungrateful person. Believing he will live out the fantasy life of a hero, Rintaro instead learns the harsh realities of surviving in a new world.
Armed with only a beta morpher and accompanied by his soul partner Ai, Rintaro possesses the unique but unreliable ability to heal himself through death. However, this power is limited: his morpher only heals him after he dies, teleporting him away from danger, and no one outside of Rintaro remembers his ability. Despite this, his morpher's incomplete nature means his commands often go ignored.
In this world, rangers are despised due to the actions of a corrupted ranger cult and widespread propaganda. Rintaro must hide his identity, using a fake name and altering his appearance to avoid being executed. With his adventure partner Shear and support from the mastery and adventure guilds, Rintaro sets out to navigate this unforgiving world, grappling with his weaknesses and the stigma attached to his ranger title.
