I gave up on this story bc of ML.
He's H*lla annoying.

The novel is essentially a mess, lacking coherence with a nonsensical leveling system. The main character is so愚蠢 that it becomes infuriating, suggesting the author's own limitations, as they struggle to create intelligent characters. The protagonist frequently utters illogical and unrelated statements just to pad章节 length. During fights, characters inexplicably forget their abilities, allowing the protagonist to seemingly lose against impossible odds solely to set up dramatic entrances for others. Moreover, the translation is abysmal – I've come across better machine-generated translations. Frankly, I would rate this novel 0 stars if possible.

This is not an evolution-focused novel. After the initial arc where the story plummets, there's no further development of evolution. The protagonist gains levels by killing as a human and consuming as a monster, but this doesn't happen consistently throughout the 120 chapters. In fact, I recall only one instance where his level was mentioned, and he was surprised by its unexpectedly low value.

The few instances of "evolution" felt forced, with the author mentioning it every few chapters, but it didn't feel organic or substantial. For example, when the protagonist battles an S-rank adventurer, he nearly dies, but there's no mention of his evolution helping him or his growth afterward.

When he evolves from a fish to a snake, he abandons his isekai companion, who later reveals that it took three days for him to evolve into a form capable of traversing land. Around chapter 200, they face an S-level dungeon, and no character levels up despite the high stakes. It's clear that the author might retroactively grant levels later in the story to justify plot developments.

In summary, the evolution aspect of the story feels underdeveloped and lacks progression beyond a superficial level.

The protagonist comes across as immature, and the English translation appears subpar. It's riddled with unnecessary phrases and repetitive statements. The character lacks any semblance of assertiveness or emotional depth, if you catch my drift. Despite claiming to possess a human intellect, their reasoning abilities are on par with that of a fish. Reading it was quite a chore.

I'm not too sure about this one; it takes a peculiar turn at some point. Evolution-themed stories are fantastic. Political intrigue, I can handle when the mood strikes. But having my evolution narrative completely overshadowed by political scheming? That's not exactly what I had in mind.
