Ai Ling, a twenty-one-year-old university student with a background in traditional Chinese medicine, is abruptly transported from Earth to the primitive planet C4835 Blue Star. She is identified as Assassination Subject No. 5 in the Demon King Slayer Project, a universe-wide initiative overseen by the Star Federation. Her assigned mission is to assassinate the Demon King, He Xi, who is prophesied to break a seal in one hundred years and destroy the universe. If she fails, the interstellar fleet will annihilate Blue Star along with its inhabitants. Ai Ling’s companion is Houhou, a sentient, fluffy white ball that serves as her assassination guidance system and store interface. Unlike previous subjects who maximized their attack capabilities, Ai Ling allocates all one hundred initial skill points to survival, driven by her desire to avoid violence and instead establish a peaceful farming life on the alien world.

Upon arrival, Ai Ling navigates a dangerous ecosystem filled with giant insects, venomous creatures, and hostile flora. She discovers that the planet’s organic food sources are bitter and inedible due to the devastation caused by the Zerg Tribe, leaving most civilizations reliant on tasteless nutrient solutions. Determined to create a comfortable existence, she builds a thatched shelter, learns to start fires using local fireflies, and begins cultivating wild plants. Her primary motivation is not conquest but the creation of a prosperous manor where she can grow delicious fruits and vegetables, reviving the agricultural heritage she cherished with her grandmother on Earth. The Star Federation monitors her progress through a live broadcast, with viewers expressing skepticism and amusement at her unconventional approach compared to the violent methods of other Xi Slayers.

While gathering resources near the Demon King’s cave, Ai Ling encounters He Xi, the very target she was sent to kill. He is severely injured after a battle with another Slayer and is in a weakened state. Instead of attacking him, Ai Ling tends to his wounds using medicinal herbs and brings him back to her camp. He Xi, a native of Blue Star and the being known as the Demon King, is stunned by her compassion. He reveals that he is not a Slayer but a local, and that the title of Demon King is a misnomer created by the Federation. Ai Ling proposes a truce: she will help him improve the planet’s agriculture and food quality, and in return, he will protect her. He Xi agrees, leaving her with a silver bell bracelet that allows him to locate her instantly if she calls his name.

The dynamic between Ai Ling and He Xi shifts the trajectory of the project. Ai Ling begins earning exchange points by cursing He Xi from a distance, which the system registers as damage, allowing her to purchase tools, seeds, and household items. She successfully grows sweet potatoes and plans to graft and breed better-tasting fruits. Meanwhile, He Xi departs to address threats from other Slayers, particularly Number 4, who is aggressively pursuing the mission. Ai Ling also befriends Yuan Xi, also known as Xi Slayer Number 1, a gorilla-like humanoid from an ancient era who is lonely and disillusioned with the violent competition. She convinces him to abandon his hostile intentions and join her in a peaceful coexistence with He Xi.

As Ai Ling establishes her manor and improves the local ecosystem, the Star Federation’s Supreme Commander, Luo Ling, observes the developments with cold calculation. Luo Ling, who has a complex history with He Xi, faces pressure from Deputy Commander Ji Wen to terminate the project due to Ai Ling’s perceived incompetence. However, Luo Ling refuses to give up on her experiment. The story moves toward a confrontation between the competing Slayers and the growing alliance between Ai Ling, He Xi, and Yuan Xi. Ai Ling’s goal remains steadfast: to prove that life on Blue Star can be sustainable and joyful without bloodshed, challenging the Federation’s narrative that the Demon King must die for the universe to survive.

It's a disappointment. LOHP was not that good either, but this is definitely bad. The whole thing is lacking creativity. I hesitated to start reading it because the synopsis was not interesting. I decided to read it after some time and got what I expected... I feel like the author burned out and just pushing the mainstream thing to get money.

Got bored. Its just a slightly different gimmick, but the novel is basically the same as all the others. Generic MC flexing on everyone with his superior skills. Boring. He pretty much gets everything handed to him by his system so all these things feel unearned. I’m getting tired of all these novels for real.
