I have Returned

Su Anxi is a highly skilled military doctor and a former top student from Yujiang City, currently serving on a medical team dispatched to the remote border city of Fangquan. During a transport mission through mountainous terrain, a severe landslide strands her bus. Su Anxi discovers an SUV teetering on the edge of a cliff with several terrified occupants inside. While the other medical staff and bystanders panic or propose reckless rescue attempts, Su Anxi calmly assesses the situation. She calculates weight distribution, wind speed, and structural stability, directing a precise rope-rescue operation that successfully saves all passengers just before the vehicle plummets into the abyss. Her competence earns the respect of her colleagues, including Vice President Zhang and Dr. Liao Zhiping.

Following the rescue, the medical team is picked up by the Fangquan Armed Police Special Operations Team. Su Anxi is reunited with Xu Yu, a former childhood neighbor and high school classmate with whom she shares a complicated history. Nine years prior, they were inseparable childhood sweethearts who lived in the same compound. Their relationship fractured when Su Anxi’s family moved away after her parents’ heated disputes, and later when she rejected his confession in middle school, telling him that like the sun and moon, they could never align. Xu Yu, who had repeated a year of high school specifically to be in her class, was left heartbroken. Since then, they have maintained a cold, distant facade, referring to each other merely as fellow townsfolk despite their deep emotional history.

The reunion is fraught with tension. Xu Yu, now a decorated Special Forces captain, appears indifferent and stern, yet his actions betray his lingering feelings. He ensures Su Anxi’s safety during the ride, subtly protecting her from the rough road conditions. The conversation escalates into a raw confrontation between Su Anxi and Xu Yu. As the narrative progresses, both characters grapple with the scars of their past. The central conflict revolves around whether they can overcome their pride and past misunderstandings to acknowledge their true feelings, or if the distance between them will remain permanent. The arrival of Xu Yu’s younger brother, Xu Lai, adds another layer of complexity, as he reconnects with Su Anxi, stirring jealousy and unresolved emotions in Xu Yu.
