An Songyu, a woman with twenty years of future memories, awakens in her body at age twenty in March 1999. She finds herself in the small bedroom she occupied before marriage, sharing a dormitory room with her younger sister, An Songxiang. The setting is the housing compound of Shuncheng’s First Silk Weaving Factory. An Songyu initially believes she is dreaming, but the physical pain of hitting her head on the bunk bed confirms her return to the past. Her family, including her father An Jianping, mother Bi Lizhu, brother An Songlin, and younger sister An Songxiang, are all present and significantly younger than in her previous life. An Songyu’s primary motivation is to alter the family’s financial trajectory, which in her past life was defined by missed opportunities and modest means.

The central conflict arises from An Songyu’s knowledge of impending urban development. She recalls that her hometown, Jiang Village, is slated for demolition to make way for a logistics distribution center. Acting on this information, she fabricates a story that she overheard a high-level guest at her workplace, the Xianquan Hotel, discussing the project. She warns her family that the land near the village is destined for a logistics hub, urging them to retain their residential plots rather than selling them to fund a city apartment for her brother’s upcoming wedding. Her father, An Jianping, is skeptical but cautious. He travels to Jiang Village to investigate, consulting with his younger brother An Jianmin, who is already a successful fruit merchant in the village. An Jianmin is unaware of any demolition plans and is instead focused on expanding his agritourism business by contracting unused mulberry fields and fish ponds.

Key turning points occur as the family validates An Songyu’s claims. An Jianping and An Jianmin inspect the neighboring new district, observing the rapid construction of garment factories and the heavy freight traffic, which supports the likelihood of a logistics center. An Jianping also confirms through a trusted contact, Old Lu, that a Hong Kong businessman is indeed staying at the top floor of An Songyu’s hotel, investigating the area for expansion. This confirmation convinces the family that the demolition is real. Consequently, An Jianping decides to halt the sale of the village residential plots. He also proposes a strategic financial pivot: instead of using their savings to buy an expensive city apartment, the family will utilize mortgage loans, a concept An Songyu introduces, to manage the couple's housing needs while preserving capital for village investments.

The story direction shifts toward proactive asset accumulation. An Jianping decides to transfer the household registrations of both daughters back to Jiang Village to secure their entitlement to resettlement compensation. He also begins the process of contracting the unutilized collective land, including mulberry fields and fish ponds, from the village head, Jiang Wenlin. The family prepares to build a farmhouse inn to capitalize on the growing agritourism trend in Shuncheng. An Songyu returns to her job at the hotel, now armed with the confidence of her future knowledge, while her sister An Songxiang supports the family’s new strategy.
