Su Nian, a single mother and kindergarten teacher, dies in a Zombie apocalypse while protecting her five-year-old son, Xingxing, from being bitten. She awakens ten days before the outbreak begins, finding herself back in her office where her abusive supervisor, Liu Wei, is harassing her. Remembering the trauma of her previous life, she confronts him, slaps him, and quits her job. Her primary motivation is to save Xingxing and prevent the fate that killed him. She rushes to the kindergarten to find him alive and healthy, making a silent vow to protect him at all costs. During this time, she receives mysterious phone calls from an unknown number, which she eventually realizes is Lu Chen, a man who disappeared from her life six years prior. He warns her to hide and flee the city.
Su Nian discovers she possesses a supernatural ability linked to a silver ring inherited from Lu Chen. The ring grants her access to a two-hundred-square-meter storage space that includes fertile farmland and the ability to preserve items indefinitely. Realizing this is her only chance for survival, she liquidates her assets, selling her apartment to Liu Wei for a fraction of its value to secure cash. She uses the money to stockpile massive quantities of food, water, medicine, weapons, and supplies, storing them in her dimension. Her preparations are interrupted when Liu Wei sends thugs to rob her, but she defeats them using the supplies from her storage space. As she continues to gather resources, the apocalypse begins earlier than she remembered, with reports of violent infected individuals appearing in the news.
With the city descending into chaos, Su Nian flees with Xingxing in a pickup truck, heading for Shuixi Village, a remote, fortified house she had visited with Lu Chen years ago. The journey is perilous, filled with Zombie hordes, abandoned vehicles, and desperate survivors. She encounters a mother and daughter on the road but chooses not to stop, offering supplies from a distance instead. Along the way, she kills Zombies to protect her son, teaching him about the monsters they face. The trip forces her to abandon the truck when a horde blocks the road, and she carries Xingxing on her back through forests and mountains. She faces physical exhaustion and the terror of Xingxing developing a fever, which she fears might be a sign of infection, though he eventually recovers.
Lu Chen is also shown traveling toward Shuixi Village, injured but determined to reach Su Nian. He has been fighting his way through the apocalypse, driven by the same goal. Su Nian and Xingxing finally arrive at the village, finding the house intact and secure. She begins reinforcing the property, repairing walls and cleaning the interior to make it livable. As she works, she notices smoke and hears explosions in the distance, indicating that other survivors or conflicts are occurring nearby. The story concludes with Su Nian establishing a safe haven for her son, prepared to face the new world while awaiting the potential return of Lu Chen.
