Zhong Yang is a twenty-four-year-old actress whose career has been destroyed by a manufactured scandal. Despite the evidence, solid proof linking He Muya directly to the photo incident remains elusive. Pei Yunzhe introduces Zhong Yang to Su Mingzhu, the CEO of Qiguang Media, a new subsidiary of the Pei Corporation. He offers her a contract with this company, providing a path back to the entertainment industry. Zhong Yang signs the contract, transitioning from a blacklisted actress to a protected talent under a powerful new patron. She begins to rebuild her public image, using social media to counter the narrative spun by Yuntian Entertainment.

The story follows Zhong Yang as she navigates her new role while dealing with the lingering effects of her past. She works at a bar called Lake during the night and attends auditions during the day. Her friendship with Xu Youyou, a wealthy actress, remains a constant source of support. As she gains traction with Qiguang Media, the power dynamic between her and Yuntian Entertainment shifts. Pei Yunzhe’s involvement evolves from a simple transactional favor into a more complex relationship, as he becomes increasingly invested in her success and the exposure of those who wronged her. The narrative sets the stage for a professional comeback and a confrontation with the forces that destroyed her career.
