Qi Yang, initially fearful that Jinli is a monster sent to capture him, is disarmed by her innocent offer of sweets. The two children form an immediate bond, and Jinli insists that Qi Yang help her find her father. Qi Yang agrees, leading her through the palace grounds toward Zichen Hall, unaware of the severe consequences of trespassing in the Emperor’s private quarters. Their journey is cut short when imperial guards discover them, forcing Qi Yang to flee and lead the soldiers away to protect Jinli.
