Global Zombie Outbreak, Reborn into the Apocalypse: Day Seven

Su Yun dies in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a zombie virus that turns sixty percent of humanity into mindless monsters. After seven years of survival, she is betrayed and infected, choosing to end her own life rather than lose her humanity. Upon opening her eyes, she discovers she has been reborn to the seventh day after the outbreak begins. Her first instinct is to kill her stepmother, Lu Xiumei, whom she remembers betraying her in her previous life by hoarding food while Su Yun starved. Su Yun strangles Lu Xiumei and discards the body outside to distract the zombies in the residential compound.

She realizes she has returned to the moment she originally awakened her spatial ability, but her power has evolved significantly. Her storage space now includes six plots of fertile farmland and a well with an inexhaustible supply of pure water. Unlike in her past life, where she was forced to work for a government safe base and eventually starved when the base fell, Su Yun is determined to survive independently this time. She discovers that her stepmother had been secretly hoarding snacks and food in their home, confirming her treachery. Su Yun stores all available food, clothing, and bedding into her expanded space, ensuring she will not face hunger again.

With the city still under surveillance by authorities monitoring ability users, Su Yun adopts a strategy of secrecy. She avoids displaying her powers publicly, knowing that the government recruits awakened individuals to collect supplies for their bases. In her previous life, this service left her with little personal wealth and eventual death. She waits until nightfall to venture out, armed with a makeshift spear and kitchen knives. She navigates through hordes of zombies, including agile child mutants, to reach commercial districts. She systematically loots clothing stores, hiding supplies in back rooms to retrieve later once the city loses power and surveillance fails.

Her scavenging leads her to a food street where other survivors are also searching for resources. She encounters a group of four men who are wary but do not attack. She continues to a bakery and a noodle shop, storing flour, eggs, meat, and seasonings in her space while avoiding direct confrontation. At a fruit shop, she witnesses a man who was bitten by a zombie earlier turn into a monster, causing panic among the survivors. She then targets a large supermarket, observing a group led by a man named Shen Xiaotian who plans to lure zombies out using noise. Shen Xiaotian reveals he has an ice-based ability and a brother with a spatial ability, hinting at a network of powered individuals.

While the group creates a distraction, Su Yun infiltrates the supermarket’s warehouse. She finds high-value items such as diesel generators, down jackets, and quilts, which will be crucial during the coming extreme weather. She also destroys the remaining surveillance cameras using her ability, mimicking Shen Xiaotian’s actions to cover her tracks. She collects hygiene products, grains, and oils, taking only half of what is available to avoid suspicion. After leaving the supermarket, she heads to a pharmacy to gather medicines, killing the zombies inside with her improvised weapons. Her journey establishes her as a prepared, ruthless survivor who trusts no one and relies solely on her rebirth knowledge and enhanced abilities to secure a future in the dying world.
