Neve, a lonely girl surrounded by people, but no one knew the truth. The truth people have died to protect. It's too dangerous for them to know, and for her to get too close. So, she keeps everyone at a distance, never getting close enough to hurt them. Literally. The truth is that she is a monster. She can't touch a person without freezing them from the inside out. After indirectly hurting the one person who cared for her, she made a vow to never get close with anyone ever again. Throw Ember into the picture, a gang leader who can start a fire with the twitch of her fingers. She uses her powers to create chaos, and enjoys it. Leading a group of people with similar gifts as herself, she notices something odd going on with the girl at school who never got close. She decides to investigate the lonely girl, determined to find out what she is hiding. What will Neve do when someone tries to get closer than anyone has before? Will Ember be able to burn down the ice walls that Neve has put up, or will she be left alone all over again?
