Shen Xin was a twenty-eight-year-old man who had recently resigned from his job to return to his hometown and pursue a simple life of farming. He had always envied the idyllic, rustic existence of ancient times, preferring a quiet life over the competitive corporate world. His decision to leave his job was partly influenced by an uncomfortable encounter with a former colleague and ex-boyfriend, with whom he had shared a platonic relationship that ended with an unwanted kiss. Carrying a family heirloom jade necklace given to him by his deceased parents, Shen Xin joined his university mountaineering club friends for a biannual hiking trip. During the climb, exhausted and groggy from poor sleep, he lost his footing and fell from a cliff. Instead of dying, the jade necklace emitted a burst of light, transporting him to an unknown world.
Shen Xin woke up in a primitive forest, unharmed but bewildered. He discovered his backpack was intact, containing essential hiking gear and food. Despite their different languages, they communicated through gestures and began to bond. Luo Si revealed that he belonged to the Winged Tiger Tribe and wanted to take Shen Xin, whom he considered his mate, back to his tribe.
Shen Xin agreed to go with Luo Si, partly because he needed guidance in this new world and partly because he felt lonely. During their journey, Luo Si transformed into his full-sized tiger form, revealing wings that allowed him to fly. Shen Xin rode on his back, marveling at the incredible world he had entered. They arrived at the Winged Tiger Tribe, where Luo Si faced hostility from other beastmen due to his white fur, which was associated with an expelled clan. However, Shen Xin was welcomed warmly by Luo Si's parents, Fei Si and Luo Fei, who were kind and supportive.
Upon arriving at the tribe, Shen Xin was mistaken for a mute female because he could not understand the beastman language initially. He agreed to a potential mate ceremony with Luo Si to secure his place in the tribe and protect himself from other beastmen who might view him as a threat or a prize. After the ceremony, Shen Xin fell ill with a fever, which worried Luo Si and his parents. During his recovery, he learned that the tribe relied heavily on hunting and had limited agricultural knowledge. Shen Xin used his spatial seeds to start farming, beginning with crops like cabbage and wheat on the barren land allocated to Luo Si.
Shen Xin also discovered that the tribe traded with mermaids at a coastal market every six months. He arranged for Luo Si to exchange goods for sea salt, which he used to season their food and preserve meat. This trade not only improved their diet but also caused some tension with the chieftain, who viewed the exchange as a waste of resources. Despite the challenges, Shen Xin adapted to his new life, using his modern knowledge to help the tribe with farming and cooking. He formed friendships with other tribe members, including Olga, the mate of Luo Si's only friend, Lester. Shen Xin accepted his new identity as Se Xi and resolved to build a peaceful life in this beastman world, supported by Luo Si and his newfound family.
