Farming and Becoming a Deity in Another World

Gavin, formerly known as Zhang You on Earth, transmigrated into the body of a sixteen-year-old boy in the fantasy world of Faerûn. After a previous life as a legendary warrior ended with the catastrophic Arcane Cataclysm, he used a high-tier artifact to attempt time travel. The plan failed, sending his soul back to his childhood self on Earth, where his obsession with psionics led to his death. The artifact then returned his soul to Faerûn, restoring him to his younger body at a critical juncture. He finds himself in Nott Keep, a border fortress in Tethyr, just as a massive goblin and hobgoblin army lays siege to the location.

The political situation within the keep is fraught with danger. Gavin’s half-brother, Roang Nott, has inherited the barony but is incompetent, cowardly, and malicious. Roang, along with his captain of the guard Osste, had previously betrayed Gavin in his past life, leading to his enslavement and eventual death. Now, with the keep under siege, Roang’s poor leadership threatens to doom everyone. The true military strength of Nott Keep lies with Captain Zalanda, a skilled female warrior who is destined to become the Queen of Tethyr. However, she is currently constrained by Roang’s authority and the limited resources at their disposal.

As the battle for Nott Keep intensifies, goblins launch a desperate assault on the main gate while a tunneling party breaches the keep’s interior. Gavin, retaining the combat skills of a legendary warrior despite his weaker physical body, takes charge at the gate. He neutralizes the immediate threat of the goblins and their dire wolves, displaying combat proficiency that shocks his comrades. When Roang attempts to issue foolish orders that would compromise the defense and trap Zalanda’s cavalry outside, Gavin physically subdues him and silences him with threats, asserting control over the situation to prevent further disaster.

Recognizing that Nott Keep cannot hold against the approaching monster horde, Zalanda devises a retreat plan to evacuate the population to the fortified city of Darluj. Gavin supports this strategy but realizes that a simple retreat will result in heavy casualties, as history dictates that half the population will be left behind or killed during the pursuit. To alter this fate, Gavin proposes a bold tactical counter-attack: luring the goblins into a trap within the keep’s gates to decimate their numbers before the retreat begins. Zalanda, impressed by his insight, rapidly expands on his ideas, organizing the militia and civilians into a defensive line.

The plan is executed with precision. The Nott forces open the gates, drawing the goblins into a kill zone protected by wagon barricades and archers. As the goblins charge in blindly, they are slaughtered by disciplined spear walls and crossbow fire. Zalanda leads a cavalry charge to rout the enemy, with Gavin fighting alongside her as a flank guard. They successfully break the goblin lines and engage the hobgoblin commanders, using coordinated attacks and fireball wands to shatter the enemy formation. The battle ends in a decisive victory, saving the cavalry and boosting the morale of the defenders.

With the immediate threat neutralized, the evacuation begins. Gavin uses the opportunity to secure his position and ensure his survival, knowing that his ultimate goal is to prevent the Arcane Cataclysm by gathering power and influence. He plans to leave Tethyr eventually, heading north to the Stonelands of Cormyr, but first he must clear the obstacles in his path.
