Exiled at the Start with a Disabled Husband? I Have a Space and Granaries Full of Food

Cheng Yao, a survivor of the Apocalypse who possessed a portable space and supernatural abilities, dies and transmigrates into the body of a young woman with the same name. She awakens on her wedding day, forced into a marriage with Zhan Haoting, the War King, after her younger half-sister Cheng Lan substitutes herself to marry the Second Prince, Murong Chen. The original host had been abused by her father, General Cheng Jiahui, and his new wife, Wang Qiuniang, and was known for her foolish obsession with the Second Prince. Cheng Yao, however, is sharp-witted and ruthless. Upon meeting Zhan Haoting, she discovers he is a wheelchair-bound war hero rumored to be a monster. Realizing she has transmigrated into a novel where she and Zhan Haoting are tragic supporting characters destined for execution and exile, she resolves to change their fate.

On their wedding night, Cheng Yao is drugged with an aphrodisiac placed in the incense by Cheng Lan’s schemes. Cheng Yao, using her heightened senses, detects the poison and feigns choking to spill the soup, saving them both. Zhan Haoting, recognizing her quick thinking, begins to trust her. That night, Cheng Yao uses her teleportation ability to raid the Second Prince’s treasury, stealing his wealth and planting evidence of treason, including imperial robes and weapons, to ruin his reputation. She also explores her new surroundings, discovering her portable space from the Apocalypse remains intact, containing valuable supplies and spiritual water.

During her third-day return visit to her natal home, Cheng Yao confronts her father and stepmother. She exposes their neglect and abuse, forcing her father to compensate her with properties and land. She also learns about her deceased mother’s substantial dowry, which was misappropriated by her stepmother. Cheng Yao’s actions humiliate her family, who had hoped to use her marriage for status but now face her wrath. Meanwhile, Zhan Haoting grows increasingly intrigued by Cheng Yao’s competence and strength, contrasting sharply with the timid woman he expected. He begins to care for her, protecting her from court intrigues and family hostility.

As the story progresses, Cheng Yao and Zhan Haoting form a partnership based on mutual benefit and growing affection. They navigate the treacherous political landscape of the capital, where the Emperor continues to plot against the War King. Cheng Yao uses her knowledge of the novel’s plot and her supernatural abilities to anticipate threats and gather resources. She systematically dismantles the power of her enemies, including Cheng Lan and the Second Prince, while strengthening her position within the Zhan family. The narrative follows their efforts to survive the Emperor’s purges and ultimately alter the tragic ending foretold in the original story.
