Jiang Qingqing, a top-tier ability user from the year 3300, awakens in the body of an eighteen-year-old girl in 1970s China after being pushed into a river. The original Jiang Qingqing was a martyr’s orphan raised by her mother Wang Defang and stepfather Zhang Weiguo, who treated her as a servant. Her family planned to sell her to the factory director’s mentally disabled son for a bride price of five hundred yuan to secure a job for their own son. Upon regaining consciousness, Jiang Qingqing immediately retaliates against Liu Ergou, the local thug who attempted to assault her in the river, drowning him in cold blood. She is subsequently rescued by Liao Zhengguo, a public security officer, but refuses to reveal her true nature to him, maintaining a facade of vulnerability.

Returning to the Zhang household, Jiang Qingqing confronts her abusive family. When her stepbrother Zhang Derong attempts to assault her, she cripples him by striking his groin, ensuring he can never reproduce. She then systematically loots the household’s savings, ration coupons, and valuable items, transferring them into her spatial storage. Realizing the danger she is in, she flees to the Military Control Department at night, seeking help from Chief Gu. She presents a letter from her elder brother, Jiang Zhiyuan, a company commander in the army, claiming she wishes to join him. Chief Gu, moved by her plight as a martyr’s descendant, assists her in separating her household registration from the Zhang family and filing a report for abuse.

Liao Zhengguo, recognizing Jiang Qingqing at the police station, helps facilitate her legal separation from her abusive family. He warns her that prosecuting her stepfamily could jeopardize her brother’s military career due to political review implications. Jiang Qingqing agrees to a compromise: she withdraws the criminal charges against the Zhang family in exchange for two thousand yuan in compensation, one hundred ration coupons, a permanent factory job, and the dismissal of her mother, Wang Defang. Factory Director Fan, fearing scandal and loss of position, agrees to the terms. Meanwhile, the police discover Liu Ergou’s drowned body downstream, but the case is closed as an accidental drowning due to lack of evidence.

With her new identity secured and resources acquired, Jiang Qingqing visits the state-run restaurant to celebrate her freedom, enjoying real food for the first time in what she perceives as three thousand years. She invites Chief Gu and Liao Zhengguo to a meal to thank them. During the dinner, Chief Gu hints at a romantic connection between Liao Zhengguo and Jiang Qingqing, but Liao Zhengguo dismisses it, citing the age gap. Jiang Qingqing, however, is focused on her mission to repair her spatial abilities and survive in this era. She plans to travel to the army to find her brother, using the job and money provided by Director Fan as a foundation for her future. The story concludes with Jiang Qingqing having successfully dismantled her abusers’ power structure, secured her independence, and begun to navigate the complex social and political landscape of 1970s China with the aid of her futuristic system and new allies.
