Ye Mo is a senior mechanical engineer and project manager at Chuanming Group, a top 500 company in China. Despite her professional competence and technical expertise, she faces gender-based discrimination in the male-dominated engineering sector. She works long hours under the protection of her mentor, Manager Xie, while navigating office politics with Deputy Manager Liu Bo, who holds a lower position through familial connections rather than merit. On December 21, 2019, while waiting for test results in her office, Ye Mo encounters a mysterious mobile application called Survivor. The app displays a login counter that rapidly fills to 100,000 participants. Upon clicking login, Ye Mo is transported to a white void space along with hundreds of other survivors from East Asian countries. In the void, a mechanical voice assigns each participant a copy mission. Ye Mo receives the Doomsday Supermarket copy, with a main mission to survive for ten days and side missions to kill zombies. Failure results in obliteration. The survivors are then thrown into a large supermarket in Hong Kong, where chaos erupts as people begin turning into zombies after being bitten. The infected bleed black blood and possess enhanced strength and sharp nails. Ye Mo, realizing the lethal nature of the situation, quickly adapts. She gathers supplies, including food, water, protective gear, and weapons, while avoiding the initial panic and violence among other survivors. Ye Mo discovers that killing zombies grants her attribute points, increasing her strength, agility, constitution, and mental power. Her mental attribute breakthroughs also eliminate fatigue, allowing her to maintain high performance. She forms a tentative alliance with Wang Xue, a tall, energetic survivor who wields a fire axe. Together, they clear zombies from the third floor of the supermarket, establishing a relatively safe zone. As days pass, the number of survivors dwindles due to zombie attacks, internal conflicts, and despair. The zombies evolve, becoming faster, stronger, and more intelligent. They begin to climb stairs and coordinate attacks, forcing Ye Mo and Wang Xue to retreat to the fourth floor, which offers more enclosed spaces for defense. On the fourth day, the supermarket loses power, plunging the area into darkness. Ye Mo finds that her attribute increases have granted her night vision, giving her a significant advantage. She and Wang Xue continue to hunt zombies, completing side missions that further enhance their abilities. However, the difficulty of the missions increases, requiring them to kill larger numbers of evolved zombies. The social dynamics among the remaining survivors deteriorate, with trust breaking down and violence becoming common. Ye Mo remains focused on her goal, using her engineering mindset to analyze the environment, plan strategies, and execute efficient zombie-killing tactics. The story follows her struggle to survive the ten-day challenge while adapting to the increasingly dangerous and unpredictable doomsday scenario.
