Xia Yu, a twenty-five-year-old art gallery owner, meets his former lover Lu Zhao after three years of separation. Their past relationship was not a conventional romance but a three-year arrangement of friends with benefits, initiated by Xia Yu’s relentless pursuit since he was eighteen. Lu Zhao, cold and pragmatic, maintained emotional distance, viewing Xia Yu as a passionate but burdensome companion. Seeking closure and social validation, Xia Yu had hastily married Xu Zhan, a gentle and considerate man from a compatible family, forming a business alliance that appeared perfect to outsiders but lacked romantic intimacy.
