Don’t Disturb, My Ex’s Big Shot Uncle Is Doting On Me

Jing Ge is a twenty-year-old woman from the declining Jing family, which once held wealth and status equal to the aristocratic Li family. Due to a childhood betrothal arranged by their great-grandfather, she is engaged to Li Zhan, the impulsive and arrogant nephew of Li Musi. Following her family's bankruptcy, Jing Ge’s father lost his fortune, forcing the Jing family to rely on the Li family's continued support. Jing Ge lives in the Li mansion as a guest, working a low-paying internship at a foreign trade company called Womei to support herself, while navigating a hostile relationship with her fiancé, who resents the engagement and frequently mocks her.

The story begins with Jing Ge stumbling upon a brutal murder at a fruit shop late at night. The shop owner has been decapitated, and the surveillance cameras are broken. Terrified and trembling, Jing Ge calls Li Zhan, but he cruelly mocks her, accusing her of trying to seduce his uncle, Li Musi, and hanging up on her. Jing Ge is left alone until Li Musi arrives in a Rolls-Royce. Despite his cold and intimidating demeanor, he takes charge, identifying himself as her guardian to the police and offering her protection. Meanwhile, Li Musi secretly contacts Zhang Hong, hinting that Jing Ge is under his protection and ensuring she is treated fairly.

Back at home, Jing Ge struggles with her family’s expectations. Her grandmother and mother pressure her to endure the engagement for the sake of the Jing family’s survival, reminding her that her sacrifice is necessary for their prosperity. Jing Ge attempts to call off the engagement, but her pleas are dismissed as childish tantrums. She is trapped between a family that views her as a commodity and a fiancé who despises her. Jing Ge finds solace in her growing independence at work and her small victories, such as securing her permanent job and earning a raise. However, the emotional toll of her engagement and family pressures weighs heavily on her, leaving her isolated and uncertain about her future.

As the story progresses, the contrast between Jing Ge’s resilience and the indifference of those around her becomes stark.
