However, what sets this apart from countless similar stories is the exceptional character development, especially for the protagonist and the rescued heroines (since it's a harem isekai), along with the overall tone.

The protagonist isn't there to save the world; a designated Hero exists with a mission to defeat the Demon Lord, but that's a secondary objective. His primary focus is on traveling, tasting new foods, and perhaps finding a way back home, while enjoying the experience. While battles against powerful creatures happen, they're not the crux of the narrative. The heart of the story lies in the protagonist's adventures with a diverse group of beautifully portrayed heroines and the impact of his actions on others.

2. The protagonist's hypocrisy is glaring. He claims not to want to help others because he isn't a hero, yet he frequently aids strangers and thieves in subsequent chapters.

3. His morality is inconsistent. He refuses to kill humans but shows little concern for the value of life when it comes to other creatures. He also fails to protect his friends from harm.

4. The protagonist rejects love from his partners due to their age, despite his own shota status, which is confusing and inconsistent.

5. He keeps his powers hidden, causing one of his companions to risk damaging herself to ensure he doesn't face danger alone, without informing them of the choice.

6. Side characters are unengaging; for example, Karina's presence feels unnecessary, and Lulu could be removed without affecting the story.

7. The protagonist squanders valuable skill points without thought, seemingly without regard for their significance.

A reviewer once said, "Have we accepted mediocrity as good, and mediocrity as bad?" It seems that, in this case, the answer might be yes.

The main character, while initially relatable for wanting to remain低调, starts to irk me with his numerous alter egos. He creates different identities for various purposes, like an OP warrior, a company owner, a hero, and even for personal pursuits. His constant refusal of noble offers and the inconsistency in his actions, including lying about his intentions, become frustrating.

Despite these issues, I still hold a soft spot for the side characters, particularly Pochi, whose presence keeps me invested in the story.

In summary, while the novel started strong, its reliance on a repetitive formula and the protagonist's character development flaws have made it less compelling over time. The love for the supporting cast remains, but the story needs a fresh direction to regain its former appeal.

As per usual, this novel has some problems with the main character (MC). Overpowered? Yes. However, the MC's lack of intelligence is glaring, especially considering their profession as a game developer – their handling of their powers leaves much to be desired (I wish we had an MC like WMW). The MC, despite being 29 years old mentally, behaves childishly, possibly due to the summoning that seems to have affected their cognitive development.

The story is labeled as slice of life, but the plot feels predictable. Harem, heroic knight, compassion – all common tropes, check, check, check. Overall, while it's not terrible, I'd give it a rating of 2.5 stars instead of 3.

Additional notes: The light novel adaptation is said to have better writing, with more refined details compared to the web novel. The anime adaptation is scheduled for release in late 2017 or early 2018, and a manga adaptation may exist as well. However, the LN is currently behind the WN in terms of updates.

Its lead characters are both unforgettable and relatable, offering a refreshing change from the common trope of arrogant or rough main characters in xianhuan novels, where violence and brutality often dominate the narrative. If you're seeking an action-packed or fast-paced plot, this might not be your cup of tea. Although the story does have intrigue and occasional doses of excitement, the majority of the book is a peaceful and joyful journey, akin to a slice of life filled with delightful moments.

If you decide to give it a try, I highly recommend checking out the intermission chapters and short stories scattered throughout, particularly in later volumes (as the earlier ones may not have them).
