Jiang Mingyu is a wealthy woman with two billion yuan in assets who suffers from severe insomnia and recurring nightmares about being kidnapped in the 1980s. After visiting a mysterious feng shui shop, she is told her destiny cannot support her wealth and that she must marry to survive. She purchases ten million yuan worth of supplies and donates them before dying in a car accident. She awakens in the body of a woman with the same name in the 1980s, who had been abused and betrayed by her husband, Qian Youde. The original owner was forced into a compromising situation with Huo Mingfeng, the head of the steel mill security department, by Qian Youde to frame her for adultery.
Jiang Mingyu, now in control of the body, decides to divorce Qian Youde and marry Huo Mingfeng to save her life. She publicly exposes Qian Youde and his mistress, Su Hongmei, ruining their reputations. She and Huo Mingfeng register for marriage the same day. Huo Mingfeng is a widower with three children: Huo Qiyun, Huo Qihou, and Huo Qilan. The children are initially wary but are won over by Jiang Mingyu, who uses items from a mysterious ring to provide them with food, clothing, and care. She discovers the ring contains a spatial storage filled with the two billion yuan worth of supplies she bought before her death.
Jiang Mingyu faces opposition from her own mother, Jiang Qianqin, and brother, Jiang Mingzhi, who want her to return to Qian Youde for financial support. She refuses and offers to tutor her brother instead. She also confronts Huo Mingfeng's deceased wife's sister, Lin Xiaofang, and her husband, who have been embezzling money meant for the children. Jiang Mingyu asserts her authority as the new stepmother and wife, driving them away.
She plans to start a business called the Future Department Store Investment Company, intending to sell modern goods from her spatial storage in the 1980s. Huo Mingfeng discovers her secret ability to produce items from thin air but agrees to keep it confidential under three rules: she must not use her abilities in public, must not reveal the source to the children, and must prioritize family safety. Jiang Mingyu begins renovating their home and planting vegetables in her spatial storage, establishing a comfortable life for her new family while preparing to build her business empire.
