Li Sang is a transmigrator who finds herself in a world formed by the merging of several post-apocalyptic novels. In her original life, she was an insignificant background character who died during the initial chaos of the zombie apocalypse triggered by a disintegrating comet. Determined to survive this time, she leverages her knowledge of the plot to align herself with the state rather than individual protagonists, believing the national government offers the best chance for survival. She approaches Captain Jiang Tai’an, a high-ranking national security operative, and provides critical intelligence about Xu Jiao, a woman who has been reborn with a spatial dimension ability that allows her to store any item indefinitely without spoilage.
Xu Jiao, having returned to her past one month before the apocalypse, immediately divorces her cheating husband and uses her assets to hoard massive quantities of supplies. Her frantic online shopping and unusual behavior attract the attention of Li Sang’s team. After observing Xu Jiao’s stockpiling activities, Jiang Tai’an’s unit moves in to recruit her. They intercept Xu Jiao and bring her into custody, revealing that they are aware of her spatial abilities and her status as a rebirther. Xu Jiao initially resists, fearing she will be used for human experimentation, but Li Sang intervenes to explain the true nature of the threat. Li Sang reveals that the state has been secretly preparing for the comet’s impact by constructing underground shelters and stockpiling resources, countering Xu Jiao’s anger at the government’s perceived inaction.
Faced with the choice between imprisonment or cooperation, Xu Jiao agrees to join the state, recognizing that her ability is most valuable when used for the collective survival of the nation. She is taken to a secret underground base where she demonstrates her power by storing large military vehicles for Academician Lin Shushan, a key researcher in advanced materials. Her successful demonstration secures her place within the national defense effort, and she is immediately assigned to help with logistics, relieving the exhausted military personnel responsible for transporting weapons.
Li Sang then directs the team to recruit a second individual, Ji Lin, a fried rice stall owner who has recently awakened superhuman strength and a unique metabolism that allows him to survive in extreme environments. Ji Lin initially believes he is ill and seeks medical help, but his condition is misdiagnosed as psychiatric. Li Sang’s team locates him at a hospital and confronts him with knowledge of his physical changes, including his craving for rotten food and his enhanced strength. After a brief physical demonstration where Ji Lin effortlessly subdues one of the agents, he agrees to listen. Li Sang explains that he, too, is a person of significance chosen to help combat the impending disaster. Ji Lin is informed that his abilities make him nearly immune to the environmental hazards that will follow the comet’s impact, positioning him as a crucial combat asset for the state’s survival strategy.
