Lin Xi, a young woman from modern Earth, finds herself transported to a primitive forest world after a car accident. Lost and hunted by a giant beast in a relentless rainstorm, she is rescued by Wu Chen, a Black Panther Beastman with feline ears and a tail. Wu Chen, known within his community as a Crippled Beast due to his incomplete physical evolution and volatile nature, takes the unconscious Lin Xi to his cave. Upon waking, Lin Xi learns she has arrived in the Beastmen continent, a world where humans coexist with anthropomorphic beast tribes. Recognizing the danger of being alone, she agrees to form a mate-bond with Wu Chen in exchange for his protection and guidance out of the forest.
Wu Chen brings Lin Xi to the Mountain Fire Tribe, a settlement located at the foot of a mountain and composed of eleven major clans. The tribe’s leader, Bai Nu, a White Tiger Beastman, questions Lin Xi’s origins and her choice to bond with a Crippled Beast. Despite Bai Nu’s suggestion that she choose a stronger partner to ensure her survival, Lin Xi stands by Wu Chen, citing his strength and her sense of security with him. Wu Chen is visibly moved by her loyalty, having long been accustomed to disdain from his tribe. Their union is scheduled for a mate-bond ceremony in a few days, a event that draws the attention and jealousy of other tribe members, particularly Hu Cong, a Fox Beastman who had also pursued Lin Xi.
As Lin Xi adapts to her new life, she applies her modern knowledge to improve their survival prospects. She learns to render oil from bear fat, creates cooking utensils from bone and fruit shells, and discovers edible wild plants such as Black Bug Fruits, which she prepares in ways unfamiliar to the Beastmen. Her culinary innovations bring her closer to Wu Chen and earn the curiosity of Xue Tian Ama and Xue Ying, Rabbit Beastwomen who become her allies. Lin Xi’s presence begins to shift the dynamics of Wu Chen’s life, transforming his sparse cave into a shared home and introducing new dietary habits.
However, tensions rise as Lin Xi’s beauty and her rejection of other suitors attract unwanted attention. Hu Cong, rejected by Lin Xi, becomes increasingly hostile, while Hu Mei, a Fox Beastman with long-standing feelings for Wu Chen, confronts Lin Xi in the forest. Hu Mei warns Lin Xi that she and Wu Chen may not survive the coming winter due to his status as a Crippled Beast and suggests that Lin Xi join a polygamous arrangement with Hu Mei and her mate, Hei Li. Lin Xi firmly refuses, declaring her commitment to Wu Chen and inviting Hu Mei to their upcoming ceremony. The confrontation leaves Hu Mei furious but unable to sway Lin Xi’s decision.
The story progresses as Lin Xi and Wu Chen prepare for the mate-bond ceremony. Lin Xi continues to gather food and learn about the local flora, while Wu Chen hunts to provide for their union. The narrative highlights the cultural differences between Lin Xi’s modern sensibilities and the primitive, survival-driven world of the Beastmen. As winter approaches, the couple faces the challenge of stockpiling enough resources to endure the harsh season. Lin Xi’s determination to contribute to their survival, despite her lack of hunting skills, strengthens her bond with Wu Chen. The story sets the stage for further conflicts within the tribe and the external threats posed by the dangerous beasts of the forest, as Lin Xi and Wu Chen navigate their new life together.
