Su Meng, a ruthless and vengeful woman who died violently, is mistakenly summoned by System 666 to a fictional world. The system intended to recruit Lin Jiaojiao, a gentle and kind-hearted girl, to reform the story’s villain, Ji Weichen, and prevent him from becoming a madman who destroys the world. However, due to a binding error, Su Meng inhabits the body of Qin Meng, the original novel’s secondary female villain. Qin Meng is frail, sickly, and destined to suffer a miserable end at the hands of the protagonist. Despite the mismatch, Su Meng accepts the mission, not out of altruism, but because her original body was destroyed, leaving her no choice but to complete the tasks to secure a chance at rebirth. She negotiates for additional rewards, including access to a system warehouse containing magical items, before binding herself to 666.
The story begins in an abandoned warehouse where Su Meng confronts Ji Weichen, a seven-year-old boy who has just survived a kidnapping incident. Ji Weichen is already deeply traumatized, scarred by years of abuse from his mother, who blamed him for her ruined life, and torment from Qin Meng, the daughter of the family that orchestrated his mother’s suicide. In the original plot, Ji Weichen loses an eye during this incident and grows up filled with hatred. Su Meng, however, alters this fate. She incapacitates Ji Weichen and uses a magical item to induce temporary blindness and memory loss, effectively erasing his traumatic memories and his knowledge of her true identity. She presents herself as his savior, claiming she found him injured and rescued him. Ji Weichen, vulnerable and disoriented, begins to trust her, addressing her as “Sister.”
Su Meng’s approach to “reforming” Ji Weichen diverges sharply from the system’s expectations. Rather than teaching him kindness or forgiveness, she instructs him in manipulation, deception, and retaliation. She frames the adopted daughter, Qin Qing, for poisoning her with harmful gifts, turning the household against her and isolating her from support. When the Ji family from the Upper Capital arrives, seeking to eliminate Ji Weichen to claim his inheritance, Su Meng protects him by lying to the authorities, claiming Ji Weichen saved Ji Cheng, the antagonist’s son, from drowning. This act secures Ji Weichen’s safety within the Qin household and deepens his dependency on her.
As Ji Weichen recovers his sight and memories, he realizes Su Meng’s true nature and her role in his suffering. However, instead of rejecting her, he chooses to exploit her, believing he can use her greed for his own survival. Their relationship becomes a complex game of mutual manipulation. Su Meng continues to dote on him, offering rewards for his obedience and punishing him for minor infractions, while Ji Weichen plays the role of a fragile, trusting child. Meanwhile, Su Meng navigates the treacherous politics of the Qin family, outmaneuvering her father and siblings to consolidate power and protect her secret asset. She drives away Ji Weichen’s loyal protector, Uncle Shi, ensuring no one interferes with her control over the boy.
The narrative explores the psychological dynamics between the two characters. Su Meng, lacking any genuine capacity for warmth, teaches Ji Weichen to survive through cruelty and cunning. Ji Weichen, initially viewing her as a tool, begins to develop a twisted attachment to her, drawn to her unwavering attention and the strange sense of safety she provides. The system 666 grows increasingly alarmed by Su Meng’s methods, questioning whether her approach will truly reform Ji Weichen or further corrupt him. Yet, Su Meng remains confident, believing that by eliminating his enemies and controlling his environment, she can steer him away from his destined path of destruction. The story sets the stage for a cat-and-mouse game where the lines between victim and abuser, savior and manipulator, become increasingly blurred.
