"It's a delightful and amusing read! I breezed through it in about three days, I believe. The novel has some adorable and hilarious moments between the main character (MC) and the love interest (ML). The MC showcases intelligence when tackling political matters or challenges faced by royalty, adapting swiftly after his unexpected transmigration. He's like a 'fox in rabbit's clothing,' as ML puts it, trying to appear tough in a lighthearted way."

My favorite supporting characters besides the MC and ML are Meng (the ultimate wingman), Gu Changyun, and Xu Du, despite their limited appearances. Gu Changyun and Xu Du might not have been as prominent, but they added value to the story.

However, there's a spoiler here: some readers have mentioned the author's tendency to sideline secondary characters, which is a bit disappointing. That's the only aspect I didn't particularly enjoy.

Lastly, please forgive me if my review isn't perfect – my memory may be hazy, but overall, I had a positive impression of the book.

It's revealed in Chapter 93 that MC reciprocates those feelings.

While the story progresses slowly and has a cute development, some readers wish for a quicker and more intense plot, especially when it comes to seeking revenge against their enemies. The ending leaves the fates of MC's two false concubines unresolved, which many find disappointing, as they were intriguing characters. A little extra content would have provided a satisfying conclusion. Overall, the author and translator are thanked for their work.

Despite the book being intriguing and somewhat distinctive in certain aspects, I found it difficult to complete due to the frequent instances of miscommunication and dishonesty within its pages. The main issue I encountered, which I won't spoil, was the main character (MC) not being informed by the love interest (ML) that his legs had regained functionality, and the concealment of the doctor's affiliation with the ML. I understand the logic behind these choices, but as a reader, I intensely dislike when important information is withheld from the protagonist. Although the MC eventually discovers the truth about his legs, the lingering anxiety caused by the initial deception led me to rush through the remaining chapters just to reach that resolution. Unfortunately, this negatively impacted my overall reading experience, and I decided to stop short of finishing the book. While I initially intended to give it another chance based on previous enjoyment, my aversion to such plot points made me cut straight to the latest chapter. In conclusion, while there are merits to the book, I believe it's still worth reading up to a point, despite my personal qualms.

I must admit, I wasn't planning on reading an entire novel in machine translation, but this is just too exceptional. I got hooked after reading the first three translated chapters and couldn't resist diving into the raw version. Surprisingly, the majority of the machine-translated text was quite comprehensible, and the plot itself kept me entertained. After a few hours, I'm now about one-third through, and it's fantastic. It's a pity I discovered this so soon; I wish I could wait for the official translations.

Characters-wise, they're all well-rounded and likable, fitting seamlessly into the narrative. The comic relief provided is a delightful break, never grating but rather invigorating. The protagonist feels genuinely developed, avoiding the common pitfall of being overly silly but still relatable. I wholeheartedly recommend this book; it's heartwarming, and I'm genuinely excited for upcoming chapters."

I titled the section based on the translator's notes, but I believe I'm around Chapter 60. Regardless, I am completely enamored with the story; it has captured my heart. This is the first time I'm writing a review to express just how much I adore it. The bond between the main characters is truly precious, and their interactions are filled with sweetness. The male lead tries to avoid his beheading at the hands of the female protagonist, so he showers her with exceptional care, which, amusingly enough, only serves to make him find her adorable due to her striking appearance and delicate health. Gradually, he falls deeply in love with her.

The first part of the novel was highly engaging, with its captivating court intrigue and compelling character dynamics. The development of their relationship was nothing short of perfect, keeping me hooked. However, the second half, while still somewhat entertaining, failed to live up to the initial excitement. It felt like a separate entity from the first half, almost an extended epilogue with overly-sweet moments and hurried storytelling.

It's hard to pinpoint exactly when the book started to lose its luster – whether it was during their characters' intimate scenes, which I found off-putting, or around the fall of Nanjing, which coincidentally occurred around the same time. Regardless, the novel's shine seemed to fade, turning repetitive.

Overall, it was a decent read, but not without its flaws. I would give it a rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars.

This is one of my initial BL recommendations that sparked my interest in the genre and remains a go-to read for me. Whenever I want to revisit a familiar story, this is on my list. The plot revolves around a historian who reincarnates as a prince with a notorious reputation, secretly planning a rebellion against his tyrannical older brother, who discriminates against others. Despite having no memory transfer, the protagonist uses their knowledge from their past life.

The main love interest is a defeated general from a rival country, who has lost his legs and was forced to marry the prince due to the original character's pretense of being gay. In this tale, you can expect a dynamic between a sickly (shou) and disabled (general) top dynamic.

I'd rate it 10 out of 10 and highly recommend it.
